Yea the number 2 scorer is such a lazy argument. Also, Rantanen’s production advantage on Point at ES is basically just a few secondary assists, and while he’s more productive on the PP, Kucherov also gets to play with Stamkos on the PP, who has clearly regressed at ES but is still an elite PP finisher.
Ok and Mackinnon benefits significantly more playing with Makar who is a far better offensive defenseman than Hedman at this point. Hedman's really just picking up points from Kucherovs plays. Can't imagine the space could get playing with someone who can actually move on blueline and get shots through.
Give Kucherov Rantanen, Drouin and Makar and he'll produce the exact same or more. Sit there with a straight face and tell Mackinnon could do more with Point, Stamkos and Hedman. Yeah exactly.
