The City of York
It is all part of the master plan to keep Bedard away from our Canadian rivals by letting them win their ‘cup final’.

Anyway we must have been underdogs for the game, Ottawa have the best top 6 in the league, according to lots of people on here.

Checks standings - oh!!!!!

Your first paragraph is just you using one game to suit your arguement. Not the way it works.
The Leafs D is not a problem. How many elimination losses with lack of goals do people need to see? Anyways hopefully Dubas adresses the actual issue this time
Most elimination games, especially game 7s are low scoring regardless…leafs are probably the outlier. If we add a F it better be and who can actually score 5v5 because adding a skill player won’t do squat. Malign got traded because we don’t need a small skilled player on line 3. We don’t need sandin on pair 3.

As another poster mentioned of course tampa and Boston will have Holl and sandin marked on their white board to dump pucks in their corner. It’s hockey 101 to attack the weak D. Especially since sandins main flaw is cycle containment.

We all have seen the hole in this team where the heart should be. It has been there for 4 years. Every team has bad days. We can't beat up on weak teams. We don't have the hunger to dominate.

Too close to Ottawa and Montreal
Felt like it was over before they faced off at 1-0 even though they tied it up twice.
No energy and terribly sloppy dzone play by everyone.
Coming up dull and uninspired against bottom teams is not great for sure, but meh… I hate losing to Habs and Sens especially but this year there is one silver lining keep berard out of this region!
Im going to both games in Ottawa coming up, once in a big family group and the second in excellent seats that were a present. If the first one is another stinker the second will quietly go on the market.

Hard to score when Rielly & Holl have 4 defensive zone giveaways instead of zone exits

Lost 2x to Zona, and Montreal, 1x to Ottawa, Detroit, Ducks, Sharks, Isles, and Kings. Oh and let's not forget losing 5-1 at home to Martin fricken Jones. LOL
This is exactly why the management team, Shanahan and Dubas, have got to be fired and replaced. I would also trade half the team including one or more of the core 4!

It's unacceptable to be continually losing to bottom feeders like this. There are no excuses for this at all.

I'd rather have the Leafs beating Ottawa and Montreal and being last over all in the standings. That's mostly what counts for me, beating the Habs and Sens!!! After the last 10 years of playoff futility, I have given up on seeing another Leafs Stanley Cup championship as an adult. The curse of Harold Ballard is alive and well and is fully supported by the NHL.

And, Rielly IS NOT a number one D by any stretch of the imagination. He needs to be traded for a change of scenery. He can take Tavares with him for all I care. He's not leading the team the way I expected of him.

Not that I think the BOD will do anything, however I hope they lose to Washington and Boston! Go Caps and go Bruins!!!

So we can add goalie to the list of players Dubas needs to find at the deadline
I don't trust Dumbass to make any trades. He lost the trade with Ottawa for Murray really bad. Ottawa should of paid a much higher price for getting rid of Murray and his cap hit!!!

As much as dubas and shanahan need to be fired, the BOd have proven time and time again they hire the wrong management over and over. 18 damn years of not a single playoff round win (including 2 covid gift matchups vs columbus and Montreal) is the definition of insanity

Unfortunately not an unexpected outcome. All the ingredients were there, starting with Ottawa always showing up to play us hard.

Murray bailing last second had to throw everyone off-stride to start and Matthews being out left a huge hole.

Looking forward to seeing Woll given a chance. I have very real concerns around Murray having any semblance of reliability for us the remainder of this season and Samsonov can't do it all.

Tough games coming up against Washington and Boston, but hopefully they pick up their games against strong opponents and we can go into the All Star break with a win or two and get healthier in the Break.

Man I would love to have Knies in the lineup right now for this to see what he can do......

And we saw how Montreal broke him down in the 2021 playoffs. Maybe he has improved from that, but I don't think putting him on a pair with Brodie is a reasonable solution, especially since we will be relying on Brodie to play against 2 of the best playoff players in the NHL

You give Sandin 3rd pair minutes in the playoffs and see how he plays in them. Provide him offensive zone starts, and utilize his offensive tools as much as possible
Montreal broke the entire team down. Sandin was inexperienced, played with a shit partner, and was just coming off an injury.

I probably wouldn't start him with Brodie either, but I don't think it'd be the worst idea. He's the perfect partner to cover for Sandin's weaknesses, and Sandin does seem to do better when he gets more engaged and a larger role. It seems more like a last resort option than the optimal strategy right off the bat though

Same team culture, different year. Mental toughness, Killer Instinct, Dont hate to lose, soft play etc.etc. Oh well, I’m sure they’ll have some great regular season games and then lose in game 7 in the playoffs. Groundhog Day

Oh I see, missed the first period and wish I had missed the whole game. Watching that game has given me a headache equivalent to taking a shot off the head...

I watched parts of the 1st., few parts of the 2nd. (doing household chores) and had recorded it.

Finished chores in the 2nd. watched a few minutes and had an injury so I had to stop watching.
I took a fork off the lower lip so couldn't face the rest of the onslaught.
Turned to Netflix for R&R with B movies.

Ottawa has beat Boston, Buffalo, Washington, Pittsburgh, New York Islanders, Toronto.

That's Corporate Hockey for you. We'll always have wholesome squeaky clean and politically correct front office staff, coaches, and players. No rats allowed. Unfortunately you need rats to win.

It didn't matter too much by the time Giroux scored that 6-2 goal, but I thought Sandin's diving poke check was very reminiscent of Rielly on a 2 on 1. So bad.

That's why Leafs need a true number 1, so the youngsters can learn from the best.
Giordano is a good example, but he's several years past best before date.

In the games Matthews has missed Mitch and JT have been dogshit this year in terms of production.

Rielly, 7m offensive d man and zero god damn goals.

Kampf a defensive specialist who can't defend ot score for the past 20 games.

Engvall and kerfoot a waste of five million bucks.

This team has so many f***ing passengers it's insane.

No one can rely on captain 11m for a goal. We all look to Matty or William (Mitch is more setup guy).

No Dorian cup throwing last night. Instead there was a Stanley Cup presentation. The Ottawa Senators are planning a parade today. Good for them. They beat a disorganized roster and a goalie not ready to start.

I hope they think of this game when they become good enough to not make the playoffs and not bad enough to draft in the top 5.

TOR needs to be a lot better on Sunday.

Some nights you just need to give time to other hobbies and not get too into the games. These are the "dog days" of the NHL season. Looks like you had the same idea as Murray!
