There is no reason to think that this trade does not immensely improve the Leafs lineup. There is also good value coming back to Anaheim. This proposal actually makes a lot more sense than some of the others on this forum

Leafs don't need Manson. We signed Brodie and Holl is a legit top4 defenseman regardless of whether HFboards has noticed yet or not. I know y'all have been hammering away that the Leafs should trade Nylander for a defenseman for eight years at this point, but you're a year out of date. We signed one and developed one. There's a bunch of fluff on the Leafs side to balance out salaries, but Nylander and a 1st is not the kind of package that we're moving for a Getzlaf rental and two years of Rakell. Pretty emphatic no. And tbh it will probably be a cold day in hell when the Ducks trade Getzlaf.

That's still basically 2 4th lines for 10% of the season + whatever time it takes the new adds to get used to our system. Maybe you can get away with it during a Matthews/Marner hot streak.

Factoring in that the pick will likely be around 28th-31st in a weak draft it’s not that great of a deal for the Ducks either.
