So who else is done with Lyubushkin?

Once again "tough physical defensive dman" turns into "just plain slow and untalented" once you see them up close shift in shift out.

When we're healthy there's no way he should be in the lineup. Our #8 dman at best.
hes fine, just needs sheltered minutes. pretty sad he had to come here as a result of paying out of a contract half a year in, but it is what it is

Lyubushkin's 5v5 stats so far:

GP: 8
TOI/GP: 15:07
Ozone Starts: 42.31%
xGF%: 59.67
GF%: 57.72

Worst numbers of all our bottom pair dmen this year - which is why he has negative relative stats.

And then you watch him leaving his partner in no man's land because he's too slow to recover from his mistakes.

Near as I can tell he's a clear the front of the net specialist.

Dzingel cleared waivers today for SJ. I guess Dubas & co. didn’t see value in putting in a claim to stash him in the minors for depth. If I’m not mistaken we could’ve picked him and put him right down if we were the only team to make a claim.

Maybe being a week out from the deadline, they preferred to not claim him and keep the extra

They could have buried the cap, but I also wonder if they wanted to avoid using up the contract spot. They're at 47 contracts and have three spots left. That seems like enough to me, but what would I know?

Especially since we could be opening up some more by moving a guy like Duszak.

At the same time, maybe they don't see value in him as even a shutdown guy? Or we are going hard at various NCAA/European UFA's? IDK. I personally would have put a claim in on him, because the Marlies are even desperate for help right now and he would have been solid free depth, but it is not the end of the world.

Ho-Sang will come up. That'll be the Dubas Deadline Special.

Sounds like a request to Uncle Dubas, "more of the same please". I second the motion.

On a team like this, the focus should be on more physical defensive defenseman who are willing to hit and move men. I saw on one play the Bear move one guy out of the crease, looked over his shoulder and like an angry man chasing a rat out of his house he skates over and moves the other player out of his goalies crease.

What a beautiful sight.

Simple, attention to detail and a willingness (and ability) to just move a man who poses a scoring threat. This is all this team needs, along with a simple outlet pass to the offense.

Punish the guys going to the net, they'll think twice and it wears them down over a series.

Gotta give props to KD before the TDL where everyone is going to shit on him for whatever he does.. Bush has been an awesome acquisition.

His hit on Jason Robertson the other night was a thing of beauty:

And he seems to have fit like a glove with Morgan on the top pairing.

Hope he can keep this going and we can get another guy like him next week, or sooner.

I notice Lybushkin doing good things a million times more often than I ever saw Ritchie do good things, so I consider myself a big fan of how this trade has turned out. I don't care if the sasquatch on the third pairing has good numbers or not tbh. I'd sure prefer if he did, I love the fancy stats, but there are jobs on a hockey team that are worth doing, even if they don't improve your ixGF%.

Long live the third pair sasquatch!

Great trade by Dubas, anyone who can’t compute why you need guys like this frankly doesn’t understand the game. I still can’t believe we got a depth D for no heart Ritchie.
