I do remember Ebert having hype 2 years from the draft but not on draft season anymore. It's not the same as Kiviharju. Anyway that poster has been shitting on Aron for a few weeks now. Kind of sad to spend so much energy on a prospect you don't rate and most people agree he's not a likely high first round pick anymore
What do you expect from someone who makes their username a play on words you’d expect from like a porn name that makes fun of a journalist that covers the draft?

Never seen so much hate for a Finnish prospect here..

It's these boards, man. People feel duped that he was billed highly at a young age and isn't meeting the hype. Seems to happen a lot around here.

Truth is, development is crazy at young ages, Kiviharju peaked early. He was a VERY good looking prospect a few years out, now he's just a fine one that will go late 1st-early 3rd.

Happens all the time, no reason to be mad about it.

No, that’s your opinion of him. You are allowed to think that, but don’t pass that off as something that’s a fact.

I didn’t share my opinion on Kiviharju.

Someone gave their opinion of Kiviharju.

I’m only saying in response to their opinion that you can’t try to play mediator and not be fair to both sides.

There are plenty who would think that characterization is unnecessarily negative.

Kitchener Rangers just made a trade to free up an import spot. Any chance he jumps ship to come to OHL?

He will pretty much lose the entire season so will not be a first round pick. I think he has the skills to be one, but injuries are a concern.

If he is cleared healthy from those injuries by draft day some team will pick him in the first round.

Finnish prospects nowadays...

These are starting to look like dark times.
I do not agree. Even if I gave up on Kiviharju, there are other very interesting prospects. Helenius (top 10) and Hemming will be in the 1st round. Vaisanen very possibly. This year again, around 15 Finns will be selected.

There hasn't been a super star for several years but it will come and there have never been many in the same generation in Finnish hockey. It is a country limited by its demographics.

Disagreed.
There are more "Busts" amongst Finnish first and second rounders these last years as well. Do you want to take a look or mention them?
If Väisänen already was that great he would've taken a spot in this lackluckster of a so called team or roster.
Also... Have you seen a single game in the WJC's? Helenius has a lot to prove. Hasn't looked like a top ten pick for his life. I mean a grinder like Männistö has been just as good as so called prospects like Helenius and Halttunen so far in this tournament.

Let's see, I don't wanna jinx Finnish prospects anymore. They'll have to show something spectacular or just make it before I get my hopes up.

This also works for other nationalities.

And there are also undervalued Finns who surprise. Next to Kakko, you have Maccelli in the same draft.

Helenius is 2 years outclassed and the tournament has only just begun. He's top 10 in virtually every list (even if the lists aren't absolute truth).

Seriously your cherry picking is a bit laughable.
Maccelli, anyone else? Him and Aho have performed better than their draft number. The rest?

Kupari, Heponiemi, Kakko, Juolevi, Puljujärvi, (right now Laine), Välimäki, Laaksonen, Vaakanainen, Ristolainen, Honka- or Honkas? Puistola, Simontaival, Tuomisto, Heinola, Vesalainen, Ikonen, Leinonen, Nikkanen, Aaltonen, Heimosalmi? Oliver Kapanen, Samuel Helenius, Lundell havIng a bad year, slump or not. Also pretty sure both Jurmo and Viro will not make NHL, Thomson, Tieksola...
Honestly I could go on forever.

I'm certain and confident about this. You have your opinion but bringing Maccelli is the only thing you got going on. Let's hope you are right for Finlands futures sake.

And yet 42 Finnish in NHL... Saros, Hintz, Aho, Rantanen, Lindell, Haula, Mikkola...

1993/94 : 10
2003/04 : 38
2013/04 : 32
2023/24 : 42 (probably 45 at the end of season)

I have another definition of decline

I'm not comparing to 93/94, you do that. I´m recognizing a trend. But if you want to be completely satisfied with that, then be. I just dont' think you have a single good argument.

Also, we could and should have at least 60 players in the NHL.
