It's funny how useful Dzerins still is to this team, after everything what's been said about him. Almost better than during his prime. Maybe playing at a lower level gave him more confidence in his offensive skills.

Unlucky for Latvia, but again a nice goal. Not an easy shot to take from this position.

Typical Daugaviņš goal. Calmly carries the puck to mid offensive zone looks up and scores. Very needed aswell.

Latvia taking care of business but losing Zile would be extremely unfortunate. Hopefully he can recover before the Swiss game.

Dzerins is the scoring leader of the team at the moment. Hilarious

Zile is back, very nice.

And lets Verlic tip the 2nd goal on the return shift. Not so nice.

Indeed, with Bukartsx2, Balcers, Daugavins in roster - did not see it coming.

Ah, I see Latvia wants some extra 3per drama.

Why do we always make it hard for ourselves...
Because there isn't enough quality on the team to close out the game in a calm manner :teach:

Germans faced the same issue against Denmark yesterday, for example. And even then, they at least dominated the game, Latvia has only outshot Slovenians by 4 today.

They need better everything but yeah, Kroselj is definitely not having his best game here. Also, it appears he did well enough on this one.

Hehe, yeah, you can see it this way. But imho it's the worst goalkeeping-duo of the tournament. Hungary is better, KAZ is better, AUT is better.

Don't really see how a very solid Czech league starting goalie is worse than what Hungary or Austria could possibly have but I guess agree to disagree on this one.

Kenins, meanwhile, went from never being able to score himself to cancelling his own team's goals now :sarcasm:

Latvia actually getting outshot in the 3rd, are we gonna see the classic "attempt to hang on to 1 goal lead against any opponent" strat?

This is my observation of the current strength at this tournament. An NHL-keeper could play like shit at a WC and play worse than any other keeper playing in some European league. And Kroselj is just not very convincing until this time.

Denmark also has some troubles, weak goalkeeping probably cost them the game yesterday.

Oh, in that case yeah, agreed. Although comparison with Kazakhstan and Hungary is still tough.

Maybe, yes. But Balizs was great and Shutov can steal games, he's done that before at that level.
