a couple?

Buff, Wheeler, Little, Enstrom, Kane --> Myers, Ladd --> Dano + Stanley

thats a pretty good start. where would the jets be without Wheeler,Buff, and Myers now?
Probably bragging about our 1-2 punch of McDavid and Matthews.

Yeah well everybody and their mother thinks that EKanes deal is overpayment. Im not saying that Laine couldnt get top dollars. Im saying Laine might not want to... Its a farfetched idea but helps the team in the long run. Think about Josi, Karlsson etc. Their contracts were ridiculous sweetheart hoochie coochie deals
Neither Kane, nor his mother think he is overpaid.

Really good at one timing pucks on the pp while not playing top d-men being sheltered-ish on the 2nd line. Hell of a player dont get me wrong but I wouldn't give him more than 9. Tavares money? No, he plays arguably the least valuable position in hockey (could argue goalies are less valuable) and is an RFA.
I agree. Spend 3 months a year in the Peg and 9 in Van. People can flame me all they want. Laine is a pp specialist that is it. He is not very good away from the puck and often leaves his check unattended. Look at his overall PPg numbers from Finland. They were .84 a game. In comparison, JP was over 2 OJ was .75 as a D. And the kid that is expected to go top 3 is #1.Laine benefits from his players, not the other way around.

Brock scores plays D and dishes as he was a point 87 last year. Laine will knowing Chevy be in for a dogfight. How many players is Chevy gonna alienate? Anyways I say he gets around 9 a year. he is nowhere near AM or CM money.

My prediction is Laine signs for 9.5. Matthews gets 10. Barzal gets 9 after another great season.

3 most entertaining players in the NHL right now.
Brock Conner Ovie/Sid. AM will get more than JT. Why do people not understand, JT is the 22 ranked player in the NHL. AM is ranked 11th. He is putting up better number in his first 2 seasons. And hasn't even peaked yet. JT started peaking 2 seasons ago.

RFA vs UFA should still mean something.

What's really interesting is that the Wheeler is up for contract after next year so if the Jets take their time with the contract negotiations they very well could be exploring trade options. They also have Ehlers locked in at $6M too. Laine could very well be the odd man out in the Jets big upcoming cap crunch.

You keep repeating yourself. It was stupid the first time.

With Tavares brought in, Matthews may be the odd man out. 12 mil for a 2C just doesn't make sense.

What for him?

:sarcasm:

Not a chance you do whatever it takes to sign a goal scorer like that.

The Jets already have an elite young first line in place. They will have a ton of money locked up in wingers and may not have room for Laine. I honestly can't see him being on the team in 2 years time.

Very likely you are correct. With Scheif and El Capitan requesting Connor over Laine on their line it's very telling who the leaders of the team prefer. Suomi fans dont kid yourself, 55 is the leader of this team going forward. Add to that Laines piss poor off season training with a below average trainer FIN Ratatoula as well as a lack of maturity I can see him elsewhere in 2yrs time as well. Laine may learn the hard way hes not bigger then the Jets.

Any word if the Jets are looking at an extension?
He's probably due for 10+ right now. Might get scary if he wins the Rocket this year.

Agreed 100%. Let's say Wheeler demands $11M long term (which his production justifies completely as a UFA) and then let's say Connor gets Ehlers money at $6M.

Between Ehlers, Connor and Wheeler - the Jets will $23M tied up in top-6 wingers. Is it honestly practical to pay Laine and have well over $30M tied up in wingers?? I really don't think so. I sincerely believe the Jets will be stuck between picking Wheeler or Laine, and I think they'll go with Wheeler.

2 of the last 3 posts claim to hate Chipman. Would you prefer not to have the NHL back in Winnipeg?
He's a good owner & unlike some he & David Thompson don't try to micro-manage the team.
