Losing Krug, and having their top centres 35 and 36? Maybe the Bruins need to go all in right now? Can’t afford to lose Krug right now. What’s left in their window: 1 or 2 years?

Boston’s window closed after losing to St. Louis in game seven of the SCF. I think that management and some fans are in denial about that, though. Letting Krug walk is smart, but the Bruins need to do more to retool/build.

Losing Krug isn’t an issue.

Of course if Sweeney adds absolutely nothing this summer then yeah
I agree Krug gone is not as big a deal as everyone thinks. The problem Sweeney has a bad record for off season moves. Krecihi is still waiting for a winger. I like to build a roster during the off season Sweeney prefers the trade deadline when he can be held up.

I think they still have a chance with this group, but their window is likely closing. I’m interested to see what their blueline looks like next year without Krug, if he does leave. Obviously Rask is a big one. Does he come back? If so, I like Boston’s chances next year. If he doesn’t come back, I don’t like their chances at all.

Torey Krug

- Born in Michigan (Livonia)
- Fan of one Michigan-located NHL team
- Former Michigan State Captain
- Wife from Michigan (East Lansing)
- Brother coaching at lower levels in Michigan
- Bought a house from Michigan
- Parent's in Michigan
- Wife's relatives in Michigan
- Jeff Blashill was his coach in USHL

Which Jeff Blashill-coached NHL team is located in Michigan?

I think he signs there.

Hopefully there is no Jeff Blashill coached team in Michigan soon.

Welcome 2 Detroit
Detroit could be real good in a year or two. They sign Krug, have Seider coming, and have other top prospects knocking on the door. They draft a top guy 2020, and 2021.
Krug is still younger, and could be a big time difference maker there for several years.

Did you miss them having the best record in the league even with going 0-7 in shoot outs? Their window was open this year for sure. Tampa was a crap matchup for them. But would have felt good about Boston vs Philly or the Islanders. They need a good addition and the window can continue as long as 63/37 play at a high level.

Love the guy but for 7 million or more f*** no. Was terrible in the Toronto series on the defensive end of the ice last year and oil don’t even see the guy this year.

There is way too many holes and not enough offensive depth to justify paying him that.

Just hope he doesn’t go to Montreal

They won the friggin' President's Trophy this year. They got eliminated in a series that had two OT games while starting a backup goaltender because a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic prompted their starting goalie and Vezina nominee to walk out on them, while playing in a bubble and having their schedule abruptly changed because of riots. If they got over the Tampa hump, or if the Lightning had choked to Columbus again, they're at least in the finals again and would give Vegas a legit run for the cup. That doesn't strike me as a closed window.

But moving forward from this year will be tough, with Krug leaving the PP will never be the same. However, if they can get Hall and if Studnicka takes a leap in development into a full time NHLer, they'll be right back next year - and will likely run into the Tampa problem again, they don't seem to match up well against that franchise. Bergeron/Marchand/Krejci still have a couple good years left in them. Chara is going to be limited to what he did in the playoffs - defensive zone faceoffs and PK specialist. His days of top pair minutes are done, but he can perform in that new role. The Rask conundrum is going to be key in establishing where this franchise goes forward. Is he back, is he retiring, is he trade bait?

They'd match up against tampa next year if they had Hall and goaltending and less midgets on the back end. But that's it, only have one more year with Krejci, and Bergy will be 2 years older the year after.
