Fedotov should be free to do what he wants. And he chose to resign with CSKA Moscow. I know that makes the Dominik Haseks of the world seethe, but screw those imbeciles
The question now is will Fedotov be forced to go to Philly due to the IIHf's decision; a place he couldve traveled to last month if he wanted.
He chose to sign with the Flyers. The regime went after him, sent him to the Arctic. Then he 'chose' to sign with CSKA. Let's not pretend they let him make his decision. Because he had already done that before and he chose Flyers over Russia.

Also please don't call hockey players names. Dominik Hasek is an all time great.

Wrong. Fedotov could have left for Philadelphia any time after his army discharge.
Instead he re-signed 2 years with the Red Army and stated his reasons why.
It's obvious he has no desire to play in the AHL; which is where he'd be sent after having not played for a year.

And Dominik Hasek is an unethical loudmouth. He's a hypocrite who played in the KHL when it suited his own desires, yet now harshly critisizes others for the same.

He made his choice after his CSKA contract ended. He signed with Flyers. He was punished and now he's toeing the regime's line, like many others. He personally felt their wrath and cynicism.

As for being unethical and hypocrisy you only need to look at Russia's hockey to find an abundance of it in connection to certain February 2022 events. Can't talk details because of the rules.

Unsubstantiated claims.
Fedotov was out of Russia recently and had every opportunity to leave the country or 'the regime' behind. Philadelphia would have welcomed him with open arms.
Rather he opted to sign with Red Army.
Your narrative is obvious. Your stereotypes and conspiracy theories dont work on the educated, or non-indoctrinated.

As for Hasek? Did he care about the Russian government's unethical practices when he was getting paid by them?
Did Hasek care about Russian hockey's abundance of connection to certain August 2008 events?
No.
Hasek is a charlatan.

Fedotov tried to leave. He wanted to leave. He signed with the Flyers and was very obviously happy about it and was excited to take his career to the next level. They stopped him from leaving in an absolutely gutless and despicable way. And he very obviously got the message. You can use any number of buzzwords you like (conspiracy, indoctrination etc), but that won't change what happened - he wanted to leave and they stopped him.

I don't have a problem with your criticism of Hasek, you're entitled to your opinion. I was objecting to you calling him an imbecile.

Nobody is denying what Red Army did. But you're stuck in the past. Situations are fluid predicated on past events.
As it currently stands playing for Red Army is more adventageous for Fedotov than going overseas.
Did Red Army help create the current situation? Sure. But Fedotov is also acting in his own financial self interest. He knows, well, after not playing for a year, the alternative to CSKA is the AHL, where nobody in their right mind wants to be at his age.
Fedotov can do what he wants right now. He chose Moscow CSKA.

And yes, unabashed self-serving hypocrites are imbeciles. Hasek or anybody else.

Enough of the bullcrap.

CSKA screwed Fedotov over, that goes without saying. Nevertheless CSKA is still the best option for his career. Vanya is NOT an NHL quality keeper....not after a year in the Navy. Making peanuts and riding AHL buses serves him no good. He specifically said extending with CSKA would allow him to get his game back to pinnacle level. He also didn't rule out a future move to NHL. It's that simple folks. Occam's razor.

Guys, he 'signed' with CSKA because there was no other option. That 'signing' is obviously very illegal and it's still unclear how the situation is going to end up. He still might end up coming over.

In today's russian climate of anti western hysteria, can you imagine him being release from the army and again simply posting on social networks 'off to Philly' like he did before? He learned his lesson.

The KHL is underway with CSKA v Ak Bars. Ivan Fedotov in goal for CSKA despite the IIHF ban. The situation between the KHL and IIHF is going to get a whole lot worse. I think this is the first time an IIHF affiliated federation, league, and club has ignored an IIHF sanction.

Interesting that you jump on a high horse to talk about ethics yet you use such an unfair argument. Not to mention your dirty mouth.

Very rough first game back for him (5 goals, .868 sv%). Hopefully it doesn't take too long for him to work the rust off, assuming his mind is actually on the season.

If Fedotov continues to play the KHL will eventually be banned from the IIHF, and all players could be disqualified from IIHF competitions - I imagine Barys and Kunlun would leave as their national teams would cease to exist if players from those clubs can't play in IIHF competitions. The KHL can only lose this game roulette.

Not surprised. The involuntary Arctic conditioning stint must have done a number on his ability and mental health.

So sad to see them do him dirty like this. Guy was so stoked to go to Philly.

Sure he is; but it doesn't make him any less of a loudmouth hypocrite.

Hasek is the equivalent of an unapologetic wife-beater who critisizes others for domestic abuse. He's a clown.
yeah, just like that. Great analogy... :eyeroll:

Pretty much.

Hasek just said he wrote a letter to Bettman demanding Russians not be allowed to play; and the NHL pay Ukraine $2-4 billion.

Meanwhile he wont part with the money he earned in Russia when challenged by Fetisov to put his money where his mouth is.

What a clown.

SKA continues making a joke out of this league trading with its farm clubs (Randulic is coming from Sochi) and poaching other teams for players (Serbryakov).

The concept of building a team does not apply to them, they just want to buy the title.
Interestingly CSKA (Yurtaikin trade non-withstanding) is not trying to keep up improving the roster. Without fresh blood there may not be enough motivation there to fight for the title.
