Kane trade talks heating up, what would you want in return?

A first and a decent prospect would be lovely. Anything more would be a bonus. Guy had zero value a year ago. Couldn’t me happier he became an even strength scoring machine when he did. There was a time I was pretty sure we’d get nothing.

A 1st round pick and near NHL ready prospect and an above average skater, bottom 6 player.

Position doesn’t matter. We need help on defense and offense and goaltending. With Botterill shaping the team it would be foolish for him to decline a trade for a quality player because he’s not a defenseman.

Bob McKenzie says Calgary, San Jose, St. Louis and Anaheim the most interested...only 2 of them have a 2018 1st.

Calgary: Adam Fox + Adam Ruzicka
St. Louis: Vince Dunn + 2018 2nd
San Jose: 2018 1st + Jeremy Roy
Anaheim: 2018 1st + Josh Mahura

Something like that. Ideally you get a 2018 1st AND a D-prospect with top-4 potential.

Those all look realistic. For St. Louis if they could add something to Kane like a Girgensons or a Pouliot or something they would need for a playoff run and get a return of Dunn and one of Thompson or Kyrou then that would be an ideal return

That would be AMAZING. But unrealistic I think. If we got Dunn as piece I would be thrilled though.

Now that Kane is on the third line I’d rather keep him.....

I kid. I’d much rather get a prospect than a pick. Half those teams have cap issues and we would have to take back a cap dump as well, which is honestly fine as long as the player isn’t broken.

A first round pick and either a second rounder or second level prospect on D or LW. Would retain to make deal.

JBots waiting for more teams to enter the mix? Or offers are increased?

Interesting, especially from Bob McKenzie.

Fox and the Flames first in 2019 would interest me.

It's too bad the Flames don't have their '18 1st because that would obviously be more ideal, especially considering the number of quality D prospects in the draft this year.

I think St. Louis is missing its 2018 1st, too, but they (like Calgary) also have some interesting D prospects they might be OK with moving.

Blues have a 2018 1st pick via Philly but it is conditional I believe

I think the trades mentioned in this thread are pie in the sky. I don't want picks, want the young dman who's in the league or very close - Fox or Dunn would be a nice return.

You can trade picks on draft day. Maximize the asset value, don't hold out for a specific skill set that may not be available at the trade deadline (young D). The draft is a whole different trading ballgame.

Get a 2018 1st at all costs unless you can get a blue chip defensive prospect.

The draft is loaded with stud defenceman. Getting 2 pretty much fixes the future prospects of our blue line.

Maybe Knights homer in me but Evan Bouchard is having a fantastic year

St.Louis makes a ton of sense, and they are bursting at the seams with young players and prospects. If they want Kane, no one is going to be able to out bid them.
