Jurco: Wings made "safe plays, and chipping it in and playing safely"

Jurco is a real rocket scientist. Of course Chicago plays more wide open and more creative. They have ten times more talent on paper than the Wings do.

The biggest difference is in the roster. Not the style. You have to adapt your style to the roster. The Wings can never play like the Blackhawks do right now, because the talent is not there. You need good defenseman to make tape to tape passes. You also need highly skilled forwards who can make creative plays.

To be a bit fair, he was stuck on a depth line for much of his career in Detroit, but of course he put himself in that situation. There's no reason why he shouldn't have been at least a Darren Helm level contributor by this point, with a ceiling of someone like Tatar or Nyquist.

I remember a couple of years ago how people were proposing to trade Tatar for a defender because Jurco could fill the spot. Maybe he's stuck in the 4th line back check mentality, but if Richard Panik could work out, he's just proving that he's a failed prospect.

He's just trying to vent some frustration with his experience in Detroit. I think like someone said earlier he needs someone to give him a good shake and grow up. Really no reason to make statements like this. Any way you look at it Jurco did not work out here, he may have been a square peg in a round hole but here really didn't play himself into any other role either. Wish him the best of luck with a change of scenery and thanks for the 3rd.

Yeah, I think the need to grow up is a big one here. To me it sounded a lot like blaming the team, the coach, the situation, etc., and very little looking at himself and seeing what he could have done.

Like you said, wish him luck in Chicago, though.

Haha goodbye Jurco, glad you are enjoying yourself. Thanks for basically spitting in the face of 'everyone' in Detroit and not just who you are mad at.

"There's so much stuff to do," Jurco said about Chicago, according to the Tribune. "In Detroit, we were so bored, my girlfriend and I, we didn't know what to do. ... There wasn't much to do. Here there's so much stuff to do."

Hahaha, He's now a healthy scratch in Chicago. I hope he finds something to do in Russia because that's where he will be playing pretty soon.

More upset over his comments about the city, especially as we're trying to get folks excited and revved up about the new arena.

Thanks a lot for being gracious to the team and city that gave you opportunity after opportunity to succeed you piece of trash.

Meh, what he said doesn't bother me. You can shoot the messenger, but I don't think what he's saying is totally without merit.

I think the Wings have made it abundantly clear that no one can break into the lineup unless they are defensively sound. It's valued more than being offensively creative.

That's just silly. He's good in the ahl

But he's not going to want to stay in the ahl. And the KHL is a little more particular, especially since they will be contracting soon, as to the players they will take on.

Unless he can show that he is a better player than he is, I don't see him A) staying in the AHL and B) getting signed in the KHL. He'll have to find better playing time in a lower league, IMO.

Good AHL players are generally good KHL players, it makes sense because in my opinion they are closer to each other than the KHL is to the NHL in terms of overall talent.

His opinion about the city is not surprising, I have a lot of family that live in Detroit suburbs (Sterling Heights, Troy, Warren, etc), there really isn't much to do there, even the Detroit downtown area itself is like a ghost town after a certain time. For young guys like Jurco that can be boring. Chicago on the other hand is a complete different animal, it's a huge city and there's plenty of nightlife.

I do like Detroit in terms of raising a family, well, if you live in the burbs I mentioned at least, which I'm sure these players live in much higher class areas.

As a Canadian for some reason I had no idea you could smoke in casinos in the States. I went into Greektown I believe, and it looked like a casino out of a movie in the 90s. Was insane to me. Downtown Detroit afterhours is sketchy as ****...I've been elsewhere too, like Cleveland, and the difference is just amazing.

That's probably because you're hanging out in Warren and Sterling Heights lol
