I remember when the Isles picked him, and I thought, wow, what a terrible pick at that spot. Glad for Isles fans that he has blossomed.

He's always been a good two-way player. He was drafted with the hope he could become a first line playmaker. He was maddeningly inconsistent. Obviously smart, lacked fire and reluctant to shoot the puck (that's still pretty much the case). He can play pp, pk in any situation. He happened to get a nice contract, didn't perform until the third year of it.

Hoping he doesn't try to go above 5.5 a season. He'd be worth that the duration of a long-term deal. Any $ more than that and it could come back to bite the signing team in the ass.

Actually quite amazing .

Not really, he plays with 2 guys who open up the ice for him(lee and tavares) and he has above average skills that takes advantage of it. In general most of Bailey's points are generated because he is the open guy on the ice who gets to decide what play to make next and he is good enough to take that responsibility(not every player can take advantage of that)

I’m actually mad at how good he’s been. He’s always had the skill and flashed it but never had the consistency.

The best thing about Bailey though is he’s good defensively and has always been responsible at both ends of the ice.

While I don't think Bailey will continue you the same pace, but I am not shocked he is on pace for 65+ points. Last year he and Tavares showed some chemistry and this year with JT bouncing back, Bailey was sure to get a bit of a rub from that.

I remember feeling all slick because we (Nucks) got Hodgson and the stupid Islanders were stuck w Bailey.

Wasn't Bailey considered a capdump like 1-2 seasons ago?

Scoring is way up in the league, so yeah... there's that. Contract year and Tavares and Lee surely helps..

I doubt he'll even reach 70 points. 50-65 point player tops in his prime IMHO.

Would you like to back that up with a avatar bet?

Imagine if Josh Bailey had been allowed to stay in juniors for at least a year, dominating opponents with Taylor Hall and Ryan Ellis. I think he'd have been a consistent 60 point playmaker.

It’s actually incredible at this point and what is especially crazy to me is how average he needs to play the rest of the season to hit 70 points. 25 points in 47 games gets him there which is just ridiculous.

He’s more likely to hit 80+ than 70
