If Oilers keeps winning, Chicarelli have no need to move Pulju. But if the stats goes down, Chicarelli will panic and trade some players for short term to save his job.

Not even close.

Then what do you expect? I think most of the teams would be hard-pressed to dish out their 1st rounders for a guy who hasn't managed to even solidify his NHL status post-draft-year-2, especially with his physical talents.

Heck, he's been AHL level at the best most of the time so far, and it's not looking promising right now..

Hes 20. Dumping him off a cliff for a lousy second would be idiotic asset management.

He’s working hard when he’s getting opportunities, but if you’re not McDavid you don’t get much room for creativity under McLellan.

It’s the Oiler way. We tried to turn guys like Hemsky and Schultz into checkers rather than play to their strengths. I’ll give you an example - the coaches here give out powerplay time to guys they think have ‘earned’ it, rather than put together alignments that have the best chance to score or play to players strengths. It legitimately took 100 games - 100 FREAKING GAMES - for the coaching staff to pull Lucic off of PP1. Dude has 2 goals in his last 65, and was still pulling 3+ minutes of powerplay time every game.

It’s less ‘Puljujarvi has a great shot and an excellent release, that could really help our PP’ and more ‘Well Jesse when you dump and chase the puck the way we want you to maybe you’ll get a minute a night on PP2’.
Thanks. Also, he can't score or improve from the press box. Maybe some time in the minors with quality ice time might help? Also, watching Lucic tonight in Tampa is painful. To say he's a shadow of his former self would be an exaggerated overstatement.

That’s what plenty of Oiler fans want to happen. It makes perfect sense.

After he bolted back to Russia, he sure did. So as soon as Puljujarvi hops a plane for Finland maybe he’s worth a 2nd rounder.
He wasn't in Russia at the time of the trade. He was traded after his Draft + 3 season for a 3rd. Which is what will happen to Puljujarvi as well if the Oilers are lucky someone is fooled by this faux 'potential'.

Your no doubt worthwhile opinion has been noted. The Fans of the Edmonton Oilers thank you for your no doubt learned input based on many viewings of the player.

What an absurd take. You’re something else.

Oilers ruining the kid. Played on all 4 lines this season and now scratched and eating popcorn. Had an ok pre-season, but clearly isnt thrusted by management/coach. I`d say he still has some upside, but not on the Oilers. He would need Top6 minutes and time to adapt to the linemates and hopefully he gets going.

What would your team offer?

Try sending him to Carolina for: Valentin Zykov & Brock McGinn, maybe a 3rd (or 2nd) rounder? Zykov might click with McD and...?
Carolina could "droolover" a line of Teravainen-Aho & Pulju- the new "finnish-line"
