Okay, time to hash this one out. I think hes been the worst of the top 6, useless all season. I dont know if hes still not healthy, or this is the Jake we are getting now. So, trade him? Sign him? Or, ship him out?

If the team is out of it in December trade him for picks I guess? Pray William Nylander wants to play with Alex when ufa season hits.

I think it’s fair to ask the question because we may not want to hold the bag when Jake gets paid, but he does have 9 points in 8 games this season, two 40 goal seasons and a 36 in the last 5 + a 34 goal pace in the 56 game season and another 40 goal pace in 2019-2020. I say gave him and the team another month or two.

He’s not the type of offensive catalyst 87/71 need in their twilight years. And he’s not willing to take punishment around the net anymore.

If we had the assets and cap to make big changes and keep him, great. But we don’t.

I don’t think we’d be getting a Neal-Horny trade here…those are hard to find…chances are better we are just getting a first and a B prospect….if we’re at or near the bottom of the Metro in the next month, we should do it…

You can always make this trade for futures now and then reassess what's out there at the deadline. Get your Hornqvist if it's worth it for us.

He's what 28? A long term contract for him is going to look horrendous in a few years. Especially after Crosby retires.

Roster moves don't matter at this, Sully gotsta go.

Jake has historically been pretty streaky, he'll score something like 7 goals in 9 games a few weeks from now and his statline will balance out.

Welcome to the dark (dumb) side, team. Glad to have you all.

Trade his ass, and for the best return of futures you can get. Some team out there that thinks they're right on the cusp of taking the next step will pay big, and teams in that position likely only started seriously thinking about contending recently, so fleece 'em for their best prospect and a 1st rounder and run away laughing. -edit- Find a team that's been bad recently but is making strides to compete. They'll have some very highly regarded prospects in their system, and with this prospect cupboard, a blue chipper at literally any position would be a huge add.

A top-5 pick (their own) and someone else's 20-25th overall goes a long way toward putting a couple supporting pieces in place for the post-Sid era, which is only a bit over a season and a half away.

then he will miss 30 sure goals in 15 games and stare up at the rafters after every one.

I would make a coaching overhaul by Thanksgiving, and if things aren't trending in the right direction by the TDL I would move anything thats not nailed down.
Hire this guy
