Ruh? I thought Gardiner was both skating and playing quite well before he tweaked his back again? [Said with the caveat that I can't watch games so I'm going solely on the radio calls and what I read here]
He has been better to start the season. The joke was there, I took it.
That said, I do suspect this is a case where the less mobile Gardiner we saw last year isn't playing because Bean is there to take his place until Gardiner is rested enough to be fully mobile again.
Now Gardiner can get a game every 3-4 games and go back to the taxi squad in between.
