You're the one who got a Happy Meal and screwed the whole game up??????
I thought the Baby Wakanda toy was a Jobu.

Toronto is 6-5 specialist. Remember last year's PO and the series with Tampa. Bolts were better in most of the games... and then came the 6-5 situation. That's when Matthews, Tavares, Marner and Nylander are on the ice. It's a short period of time. The result you can watch.

Points doesnt really matter, the real question is will this help the team (and Elvis) in the future, after the first goal it was pretty clear that this will be tight game and after the 2nd. Vincent should have called timeout and take Elvis out it was pretty clear that he (and the team) wont last.
Did you really just suggest taking a goalie out of the game with a 5-2 lead?

Did you say that out loud to yourself first just to listen to yourself say it?

Does anyone know if we still have Bob's sport psychologist contact info?
Silly. Bob didn't "need" a sports psychologist if you asked him.

I haven’t read any of the thread yet, just finished watching the game on DVR and jumped to here. Can’t imagine what this team might be able to do if it learned to play with a lead. Bad puck control, off the gas, panic, goaltending cratered in 3rd…but sure seems like a coaching issue. If you don’t keep attacking the other end, you are going to give up goals. You don’t have to necessarily score but pressuring the opposition accomplishes so much good stuff. Happy for KJ and a win, but SMH.
Will read the thread now.

At least we're not the Chargers.

I like Pascal Vincent, but his reaction to the 3rd period in his presser sounded like "I have no idea what the hell happened."

Signature games from both teams. Unbelievable and yet not surprising. The third periods are beyond silly now. Good that they came back in OT. Happy for Johnson. Laine's goal was very pretty. Hopefully Laine's not gone long.

I think we just need to set our expectations straight for the 3rd. If we lead by multiple goals, a meltdown is expected. Anything else is a happy surprise.

That said, it is somewhat encouraging that we were able to claw back the victory in OT. Credit to Johnson, and hear me out - Elvis. He made a couple of key saves in OT (looked a bit scary but he made them). I thought the OT looked pretty ok, it was entertaining both ways and we _played_ instead of collapsing.

The last time we actually won after blowing out the lead must be some games away, the momentum has been so against us in those games that it has felt inevitable that we'll lose. So at least we were able to turn it around.

Oh, I did, alright!

Un f-ing believable

First team to EVER survive a 5-goal third period collapse in NHL history
Thank you for your contribution to the CBJ "Let's bet their way to victory" fund. Otherwise known as "Surely they can't lose anymore but I'm not taking any chances" fund.

Kidding aside, you got so close. :D Must feel a little mixed. I would've won roughly $150 too (on top of the little profit I ended up making on the draw, so I'm perfectly happy with the outcome lol).

Edit: Also, to set the record straight, NHL.com here with the assist:

NHL.com said:
The Blue Jackets became the sixth team in NHL history to win after surrendering a five-goal lead at any point in a game, and the first since the Quebec Nordiques on Dec. 12, 1992 (8-7 in overtime against the San Jose Sharks)

Last 4 games for pending RFA forwards that are going to (or should) sign long extensions:

Marchenko 1-2-3
Texier 1-0-0

Last 4 for pending RFA forwards that are potential trade pieces (or should sign short-term contracts imo):

KJ 2-4-6
Chinakhov 4-2-6

I'd be totally fine with this trend continuing, KJ and Chinakhov racking up points while Marchenko being a bit "snakebitten" with more moderate scoring.

KJ's decision-making and puck-carrying vs Leafs was much closer to what it needs to be consistently (=quicker), really nice assist on the first goal.

I'm still against playing Werenski on PP1 but now that he had a LH shooter on his right side (Chinakhov) and JG on the other flank, it didn't look like the worst possible fit. They generated solid scoring chances with little time they had together, there's no reason break them up for the next game. With Laine out, Chinakhov should be a regular on PP1 right halfwall to pump up his value.
