Hope we come out strong. Z should be back this week. Any word on Rielly?

Zaitsev and/or Rielly could be very close to ready.

I wonder what the Leafs do with their log jam. There's no way they can send Kapanen and Dermott down... right?
Not sure of the numbers but I would certainly expect both to continue playing.
IMO, if a defenseman must be sent down it will be Borgman.

Wouldn't surprise me if Martin gets in this game though.

That would be a shame.

Might only be a short-term thing anyways, because after the trade deadline the roster limits of 23 healthy players is expanded and you can carry extra bodies all you like as long as your Cap ceiling in not exceeded.

Polak should be waived. When healthy, we have 6 better D than him. Just because he is physical and a vet, shouldn't give him an automatic spot on the roster. If they send Dermott down and keep playing Polak then they are not serious about winning at all. No way are we better with Polak in the lineup instead of Dermott. I hope Lou can realize that.

So time to waive Leivo and Borgman to the minors.

I can see Dermott staying over Borgman. Kapanen being recalled is interesting as something might have to give there when we're fully healthy, but I'm not sure that'll be Leivo. They didn't seem interested in waiving him before the contract extension and I think that's even more unlikely now. It might not be a long future, but I'd guess he has one here for now as he's affordable with upside in offence-oriented situations.

I don't understand why they re-signed Leivo only to have him rot in the press-box
Or for that matter, why some other guys weren't given more of a look to see what they need to address for next year

They wanted to keep him in the organization.
