Is Ottawa a darkhorse this season again?

Loss column is usually a good indicator of how good, bad, or mediocre a team is. Ottawa is 2nd best in least amount of losses this season with 3, to TB's 2.

The class of the Atlantic to me are TB and Ottawa this year. Hard to believe they only have a combined 5 losses thus far.
I think Wins are a much better indicator of who is good. The goal of hockey is to win, not "not lose". You can discount 3v3 hockey all you want (and frankly that's fine), but not winning many games in 5v5 hockey should be concerning as well.

The goal of the regular season is to make the playoffs.

Hopefully you're in your best form at that point in the season, which is 5 months away.

By the same token, Ottawa isn't the class of anything right now, but especially in the midst of a slump where they aren't looking too sharp.

If the goal of the regular season is to make the playoffs (which - fair) - why are Sens fans going through such lengths to discredit 3v3 and the shootout, which grant points in which playoff seeding is determined?

We've been terrible in the extra period/shootout this year. There's no way around that. Which is bad.

What we have been good at this year is staying in games, hence all of the extra periods.

In their infinite wisdom, the NHL has decided to reward teams that keep games close.

The positive surprise to date has been the amount of goals Ottawa has scored.

The negative surprise to date has been how many leads have been blown, and the performance of both our goaltenders.
