Is it time to fire Kenny?

We must be we watching different teams then. I haven't seen a Detroit roster that played like they deserved to be in the playoffs for 2-3 years now.

If you're in the playoffs, you deserved to be in the playoffs. You're just dragging your ~'but they have to be a legit Cup threat or nothing matters!' baggage into this.

Now that the streak is over it will be interesting to see how Kenny plays things. Unfortunately, from the top, there was too much weight placed on keeping it alive and it set us back 3-5 years

He's already shown how he is going to play things. He's keeping the status quo, not rocking the boat, not making any significant moves. He'll talk about the great young guys, but then play Zetterberg and Kronwall to death while the young players can't get minutes. He'll be waxing poetic about the great leadership of Abby, Helm and Glenny while they struggle to score 10 goals between them. He's going to bank on finding some late round pick to be the next Datsyuk or Zetterberg like it's still the 1990's. He'll sign some struggling veteran off the scrap heap hoping to find lightning in a bottle. He'll continue to reminisce about the good old days and have one celebration night after the other and blabber about the new arena and the naive fans will fall for it. He will keep wasting the draft picks that the Wings do have, but then point out how good Grand Rapids is.

How he has a job after signing Tootoo, Sammy, and Carlo is baffling. He still thinks this is a competitive team who has just had bad luck, injuries and just needs that one guy to put us over the top, aka barely making the playoffs, and lose in the first round. Wash, Rinse, Repeat.

Fire him? No, that's not our style.
Don't give him a new contract? Hell yes. He had a great run, thank you for your services and staying true to the red wings way. Now it's time to move on

It was time three years ago. But not fire because of the great things he has done, promote to new position where he doesn't control rosters any more.

I feel like nothing good can happen until the Wings clean house entirely. Get someone from outside the organization who isn't mesmerized by the Red Wing mystique. No former Red Wing players, no playing musical chairs with Kenny. The old days were great with alot of success. But times have changed and the Wings organization hasn't. Time to move on.
