A Dubi buyout lasts 6 years. I think you keep him until you absolutely need that money. Or can we get Seattle to bite in an expansion draft?

If I'm not mistaken, the Seattle expansion draft would happen in June of 2020. At that point, Dubinsky would only have a year left on his deal so his situation would probably have been resolved by then.

Thats a good point. I guess a lot depends on what the cap does and if it shoots up what kind of contracts the team expects Panarin and Bob to be looking at. The team will obviously pitch an offer to Tavares which likely doesnt happen and I doubt there are many other FAs they would look at too hard. Plus as pointsled out,Bjorkstrand, Murray and Jenner havent earned some big pay days so that also buys some time

The arena in Seattle is mentioned to be ready for the 2019-2020 season, if I'm not mistaken.

Time will tell if the NHL is ready to expand then.

Not to mention, Dubi is from Anchorage. Seattle is a heck of a lot closer to home than Columbus. Could be enticing for him! Lol.

OK. Make the case for keeping Dubinsky around for 3 more years.

I'm assuming you can post something that isn't a snarky, brain dead, stolen cut and paste. Perhaps I'm placing too many expectations on you.

I'm just having fun man, no dog in this fight. You should try it.

Here's another thought on how CBJ could possibly get rid of Dubinsky after 2018-19

1) Bob is re-signed
2) Korpi has a solid year as backup, improves over what has been a
good but not great 2017-18 season. (He has been great at times)

3) Team(s) are calling about trading for Korpi.

Jarmo says sure, He's ready to be a starting goalie, but your taking Dubinsky also.

CBJ could even retain 1.5, would sure beat another buyout

Realistic possibility.

It's either part with an asset or take on a liability to get rid of #17. It's a case of "pick your own poison" for the FO.
