When it was Shestyorkin year, the reason was 1) winner was American

Its nothing special. Ovechkin would won most of Harts if NHL would based in Russia.
But it doesn't make Kucherov potential loss in Hart Trophy race more fair this year.

I think MacKinnon wins the Hart regardless of whether he places first, second or third in scoring.

There's a prevailing sense that he is "due," sort of like when MAF won the Vezina in 2021 or Doughty won the Norris in 2016
