How does 2019 TB rank with other notable first round flop teams with monster records?

That Canucks team was pretty good though and definitely better than this Tampa team. The Kings not only steamrolled through every team in the playoffs that year (minus New Jersey) to their eventual Cup win, they also won another cup 2 years later. That Canucks team would be a very bad example to use in this case unless CBJ steam rolls every team in the remainder of the year's playoffs... Even then, that Canucks team didn't get swept.

And every game they lost was like a one goal game, also Quick was amazing in that series

71 Bruins were upset, yeah, but it's not like MTL weren't a really good team, and they had added HOF'er Big M in a trade later in the season. Too bad they had to call up a rookie goalie just before the playoffs...some guy called Dryden.

If Hedman and Stralman had been healthy then maybe.
Hedman and Stralman really gonna make up the 10 goal deficit?

People seem to be forgetting, Tampa was thoroughly dominated for 2 of the 12 periods of the series.

That is why it is such a huge choke. Not just because of the Presidents Trophy, not just because of 62 wins, not just because they out scored the Jackets 17-3 in 3 games during the season, not just because they were swept, but because they had their asses handed to them in every way

Couldn’t have happened to a nicer team. I hope Tampa never wins another Cup.
