Looking for an elite goalie, and/or a heavy defensive minded Top 4 Defenseman.

- 2024 1st round pick (Will be around 10th overall)
- Alexander Holtz

New Jersey acquired Allen with full intention of him being the 1B goaltender next season. (This was part of their pitch to get him to waive his NTC) so he won't be getting moved anywhere this summer.

But I do think Holtz + something else for Ullmark makes sense for both.

Could 2024 1st + Holtz + Casey get Swayman???

Why would they be unhappy? Allan would only be here for 1 more year as the backup while Daws/Schmid gets the full time AHL duties. Chances are there will be an injury and one will be up on the roster. They both had plenty of chances on the main roster this year. They haven't been able to steal the mantle yet and until they're able to do so they have no reason to be unhappy. Or rather they might be unhappy but no one cares because they have no legs to stand on.

This package would be by far the largest package for a goalie in the salary cap era.

If it weren't the Devils... Ryan Lindgren sounds exactly like what the Devils want... And a player the Rangers can probably afford to part with this summer.

The idea that Lindgren could get a top-10 pick in a trade is comical. Guy is held together by staples and duct tape.

Aside from being over worked in like 4 games, Daws has a .918SV% this year...including .950SV% since Lindy was fired for overusing him.

Swayman would be the only goalie worth even considering this for, so maybe if he comes available. But even then.

If I am NJ - I'd only move that package for 3 goalies:
- Swayman
- Shesterkin
- Sorokin

Daws and Schmid being the goalies next year in Utica, then the better of the two being NJ's full time backup in 25-26 season is a very responsible plan.

Daws and Schmid were given plenty of opportunity to grab the reigns. They did not

Casey doesn’t hold as much value to Boston with McAvoy and Carlo signed long term. Swayman only moved if it solves their #1C issue and that isn’t realistic.

Last I checked no such situation existed here, despite the desperate wishes of Habs fans with designs on KJ and Leafs fans wanting to poach Jiricek.


On the actual topic, unfortunately the Jackets don't really have either asset the Devils are looking for to offer, unless y'all want to take your chances with a hypothetical Elvis bounceback. We also need that same kind of blueliner, tho, so we're more likely to be trade competitors rather than partners.
As for my other team... well, better assets would be needed to move Saros.

I'm pretty sure the poster just meant the player would be an idea pickup for their team, not that Lindgren is worth the opening package mentioned.

Hellebyuck is off the market, swayman stays in boston too. That leaves ullmark/markstrom/saros as the best goalies available. That package might get saros but it is definitely too much for the other 2. Maybe a pick for ullmark

If the NJD wins the lottery, they now have other pieces to trade. Mercer is no longer off the table when you got a guys like Bratt, Hughes, Meier, Hischier, Celebrini/Demidov/etc depending on which spot they win. However, most goalies aren't really worth Mercer, so you can still probably find a package without him for an upgrade.
