The Dallas Stars are proud to select, from Boston University, goaltender Jake Oettinger!

I typically don't look to select a goalie in the 1st round but I feel he is a good fit for Dallas and think I can get one of the forwards I want a couple picks later at 39th.

Next GM has been notified!

"I don't have" Oettinger, Hague or Vaakanainen in the 1st. But all early 2nds.

Hague might be a lock for the 1st...though.

I know I am in the minority, but I have Hague as the top defender in this draft. He isn't just a big body, and if you saw him in the OHL playoffs, you saw what he can do for a team. Absolutely dominant when he is on his game. Logan Stanley goes top 20 in a deep draft, and ppl are talking about Hague(who is much better than Stanley in every aspect of the game in my opinion) as a second round pick in a much weaker draft. I take Hague at 5. I know that's not popular, but I don't care. I'm as sold on Hague as I was on Chychrun last year, who I had at 4 in my final rankings.

Poehling and Brannstrom were my 2&3 picks for the Oilers at 22 based on BPA.... My number 1 is still available.

Yeah. I'm sure I'm way off on Hague.

I guess I saw him and didn't notice anything special. But I was probably enamored with Ryan Merkley.

I just assume people pass on him because of skating but I also guess he ought to go above Foote. Hmmmm.

I completely see where you are coming from. I like Hague a lot too (not quite as much as you) and feel he is a very well rounded defender and not like Logan Stanley in any way. Like you I was high on Chychrun last year.

I think I might have an idea on who your top choice for the Oilers was that is still on the board.

From what I've seen skating is actually a major strength for Yamamoto.

I also love that he has NHL finishing abilities. He has an excellent release and can shoot of the one timer.

His skating reminds me of Eberle's, very good in tight but not all that fast from point A to point B.

If anyone without a team viewing this draft wants to join before I make Anaheim's 2nd round picks, they can have Anaheim. I'd rather grow the game than make more picks. :)

Las Vegas selects with the 34th overall pick - C - Scott Reedy - US-Under-17 (USAH-NTDP)

reedy_web.jpg

Reedy is a heady to-way player that plays a heavy game. Excellent skater with quick strides, he started showing the ability to carry the puck, and make moves while in flight. Has the ability to make power moves down low, and work the cycle in deep. Can dominate physically if he wants, and displays a hard dangerous shot. Can throw big hits. He needs to keep his feet moving because that’s when he is the most effective. Very good defensively and very good work ethic. Projects as a top 9 forward. Committed to the University of Minnesota.

Late to the party but my list for the Oilers at 22 if the draft fell this way:

1. Thomas
2. Yamamoto
3. Lind
HM. Brannstrom

Can't argue with Yamamoto's shot arsenal though.

Mine went:

Yamamoto
Thomas
Timmins
Poehling
Brannstrom

In that order. Yamamoto and Thomas were 1 and 1a for me. The tipping point for me was goal scoring ability.

Nobody really talks about Poehling, probably due to where he plays and the overvaluing of right shots on this board. Not a lot of guys get to watch US college hockey....but he would be an absolute fantastic pick for this team.
