Lowry allowed 10 shot attempts against in 10 mins of even strength for a CA/60 of 60.
Lowry allowed 9 shot attempts against in 3:27 mins on the penalty kill for a CA/60 of 175.

For reference, the Carolina Hurricanes penalty kill allowed 77.94 shot attempts against/60 minutes last year. If what Lowry and his linemates are doing is strong defense, we better hope Hellebuyck can maintain a .950 save percentage.
Very small sample. The statistical variability in that CA per 60 is very high. Helps to watch the game, too, to get the context. Historically, Lowry is very good at suppression of shots and chances.

Do you think I was posting the CA numbers because I think they are predictive or descriptive? You said Lowry was solid defensively last night. He wasn't and his historical performance is irrelevant. I watched the game twice and am quite familiar with the context.

Just watched the first Jets PP again. Little changed after less than a minute which allowed Scheifele to get out on the ice. Petan didn't change for another 30 seconds (Laine replaced him) which is why Laine got so little PP time there. Don't blame the coach for that one.

Perreault with the even up minor penalty after 14 seconds on the 2nd PP.

So are we still on the "Petan is being held down because he's not being played with Wheeler, Scheifele, Gretzky and McDavid" bandwagon?

I don't know "Are we still on the" Tanev is functional as an the NHL player bandwagon? That Matthias isn't a waist of time? That our entire bottom six has been a train wreck for the vast majority of first four games? I would like to see allot more out of Nic, Dano, Tanev, Matthias, Copp, and Armia. Am I missing anyone? We can all throw out crap about the other posters bottom six favorites and up to this point guess what.....we are all correct because the bottom six sucks.

The only guys winning are guys like Connor and Roslo who are nowhere near this mess because the hateres would be saying that "Connor sucks" because he can't score with Lowsy and Shawn of the living dead.

The third line towards the end of the year will look a lot different than it does today. I don't mind Conner and Roslovich baking a bit more on the Moose.

I still think in today's NHL it's better to run with three scoring lines, and one specialty/checking line. If this were to happen, Connor and Roslovic would get called up to the Jets.

They might have been out of sorts with Tyler "Bad Buff" Myers giving up two separate 2 on 1s in that same power play.

Watching Lowry and Matthias kill penalties together in person was not a rewarding experience to say the least.

Matthias is my least favorite Jets player. I have no idea why we signed him, or why he is getting paid $2 million+. They guy has hands of stone, and looks mediocre at best. Tanev had a good game against Edmonton, but last night he reverted to his old ways. I would love to experiment with bringing Buff to offense when he returns. It would assure Poolman has a spot on the roster.

Kulikov definitely looks competent, and a big time upgrade at LHD.

Not sure I'm sold on Tanev being better this year or playing a role. His instincts on the PK are still brutal and he plays completely out of control. Can't say I've ever seen a Jet chase the play as much as he does, other than maybe Peluso?

Hint: he wears number 33

I don't want him at forward except maybe on the PP. But I do want him benched if he refuses to play within the limits of the system we have consistently. Maurice needs to treat him and everyone else like adults this year.

Two bad games isn't the big deal it's the absence of effort in defending that kills me.

Good win though hopefully we can keep it going

All the Buff to forward talk needs to stop. It was painful to watch last time it was tried and none of us need to see that again.

I'm just happy to be 2-2 after getting embarrassed in the first two games.
Helle was fantastic again. He seems very poised and confident in the net. I thought Morrissey and Trouba had good games. I've also been quite impressed with Kulikov. It'll take a bit to get used to a competent player wearing #5 for the Jets.
I really want Dano and Petan to succeed, but Dano isn't doing himself any favours taking that moronic interference penalty. Petan is an interesting case. The excuses for his lack of production are endless (and could be legitimate), but at some point he'll have to force his way into a bigger role with the team.
There are definitely numerous areas of concern with this team, but for now I'm content with the win.

Oh, and nope to Buff at forward.

The thing is, if Lowry Matthias Tanev was the 4th line the Jets would have one of the best 4th lines in the league. It's just the insistence by Maurice that they are played for huge stretches of the game that is a problem.

Putting Perreault or Connor in the bottom 6 instantly makes the Jets a more offensively balanced team. It's brutal that 50% of the forward lineup is just out there to hack and wack and survive. Every time Lowry and Matthias get a 2 on 1 (it seems to happen a lot) I imagine Kyle Connor having the puck on his stick instead. sucks

"I am still worried about our 3rd line. They just can't produce. We need something from our bottom 6 eventually "

getting up the Armia - one man line ? lowry and armia are good but i Think armia should play at least second line. sent lower the Little and Perreault. they are 3rd liners or so. this team needs to rebuilt but it will not be done. trust me

avgard the hockeyprotecsor

Good grief! You want Armia playing ahead of Wheeler? Rebuild the team? This IS the rebuilt team!

Got to admit- Helle played great , and helped the Jet's win that game. I was down on him last year, but so far, he's looked great this year. I think they should stick with a goaltender while he's hot, and changeup if he starts cooling off. That means they definitely should start Helle this Saturday against the Caines.

Really impressed also with Kulikov and Myers. They are both playing great !!!!

Kulikov is very solid, and has a really good shot from the point. Scored 1 against Edmonton, and just about had another against Vancouver, but the Van goalie made a great glove hand save. If he keeps up this play, the Jet's found a "great one."

Myers- playing great- really fast skater, who has a hard accurate shot, and is one of the Jet's best offensive defenceman. This guy is going to be great, and he's still very young, and coming off surgery. He also has a long reach which will save many goals against. I just don't understand why some posters on here want to see him traded ?? Why would you want to trade a future star ??- makes no sense.

Only question with Myers is - can he stay healthy for a whole season ???:boredom:

Myers will turn 28 this season. That is not very young. He is not likely to improve much at his age. He is still getting back up to speed after his long layoff so will improve a bit more but mostly WYSIWYG.

Matthias is a decent 4th liner. Ive been surprised how many good scoring chances he has had this season (seems like at least 1 a game where he has the puck down low and shoots it right at the goalie or misses the net entirely), or with him a Lowry getting a 2 on 1. Hopefully those start to go in soon. On a plus note he does look faster than last year.

There was this thing that happened. It was called the expansion draft. We needed a "contract" that qualified as an exposed forward.

St.Louis is first in the central right now.

Guess how many points there bottom 6 has right now

The old "our team has x and this other team has x so it's not a problem" trick.

Does St. Louis have a Brandon Tanev equivalent with more ice time than Tarasenko? Are their penalty killing specialist bottom 6ers allowing 175 PK shot attempts per hour?

Lots of players to sign for league minimum if thats what they were looking to do.
