As per Latvian media, Nolan has scratched Bukarts and Dzerins for the today's game, but has brought in 8th defenceman Andersons.
The first forward two lines remain the same, the third will be Kenins - Berzins - Meija; forth: Jass - Stals - Saulietis.

I didn't follow pre-WC discussions so closely, so can someone tell me why there is no Karsums and Darzins in roster ? Injury or decline (like Sprukts last year) ?

What a horrible beginning! Latvians look so tired. No speed at all.

Added: we are getting outplayed by Italians. Where is the speed?

Often the first 2 min show determination. And the players are fresh so they try to score as early in the game as possible. You don't hold back. Speed is essential.

Yeah give the Italians chance to play a slower physical game, and we saw what happened to Denmark. Latvia has to play a little bit risky to get a good lead in the first period so the Italians don't smell points that really fuels them! Pasty-power :D

Very slow game, and Latvians are trying to follow Italian pace. Was it Machiavelli, who said, that if enemy makes you follow him, he controls the war?

P.S. Indrašis had another chance to score, but the Italian goalie is good.
