its abnormal when human beeing is against his nation or is it normal in Sweden?:sarcasm:

Sweden now has four injuries, two have already left the team.

Pettersson
Lundqvist

Ericsson
Franzen

On top of that we have the worst goalie in the WC, and his back-up is probably not much better.

Where's the fork?

I agree - it's a good team. But saying they'll win is jumping way too far.

Well, I meant Swedes:) Really impressed me. They didn't excpect that we'd play THAT way, cause we did't it before, but I'm sure they'll repay it.
As for us - wow. Good job, Bill! I've never seen such a team-oriented pressing and physical game from us (esp Kulemin and Kuzya (!)) - and it was the sollution! With our lack of qualitie D-s we HAD to play like this - and it was rewarded.
Plus team spirit.
And what I liked more - Malkin was't the key to success. He was brilliant, but it was the whole team, who won - we did like team.
Future will show if it was one occasion, or tendency, but I hope for the best.
Go on, guys!

He should not have been playing after his spear in the first period and then he acts like this, a 220 pound guy falling like a feather.:shakehead
Franzen should have gotten 2 minutes for crosschecking prior to the spear but how Yemelin managed to not get a game is just beyond me. The russians played well but they should get rid of this clown.

How come so many people outside sweden cant tell the diffrence between whining and justified reflections? If were were to follow the norms here on hfboards it would be "whining" even if we "complained" about russia bringing a gun on the ice and started shooting swedes...

Reffereing was terrible for both sides, a lot of things missed from the very beginning so the game was out of control. However, great game overall.

Yemelin acted like a *****. Franzen has acted like a ***** all his playing time. Zetterberg trying to agitate Malkin was funny.

Also, guys, if you don't want to see a player embellish, try not crosschecking his face! It works.

No it doesn´t. I´m ashamed. I feel sick how russia performed. When the got touched they fell like they where dying. It was horrible to see.

I could have taken that Russia was so much better then Sweden. But trust me...they wherent. They fell alot and got ALOT of refs calls. It was horrible for the sport. I´m a swede. And i even hope that if Sweden get´s out that Finland will crush them. Russia is destoying this sport! Go back to your dandy moves in Russia! We don´t want to see them in this sport!

 Grow a pair will you. Likewise zorz who has rewritten the entire history of the sport.

Seems the whining starts every time you lose.

Last major case was when the Canadians sent you packing in the u20 final in 2009. It was a Niagara of tears and wailing.

I really don't understand why my fellow russian posters here defend Yemelin's actions. This is not acceptable. What a disgrace.

Reffing was really bad. I'm afraid, this game was the last for Boman and Koval in this tournament. They missed some calls on swedes in the beginning and then completely lost control of the game.
Poor performance by Franzen trying to get under Malkin's skin after whistles. It worked against his team with Malkin not resporning to his instigations and turning on beast mode instead scoring 5 points.

Hope Franzen is OK. Is there any info on him? Is he playing against Italy?

Russians (well not all but Yemelin) were a ****ing disgrace. Really hoping Sweden wins the tourney if Finland gets eliminated.

He crosschecked him in his upper chest. I agree with pretty much everything you wrote, but that last part is *********.

Havent seen those threads but i saw the game. Those refs must have been bribed. 2 hits on markström that should have been 10 or 20 + 5 and the refs did nothing :shakehead Tho Markström did overreact that time infront of his own net pretending getting a big hit to the head

Oh that's gonna be a ticket to siberian gulags by fellow russian hf posters... Anyway, in all seriousness, I agree with the bolded part. His dancing tricks were like cirque du soleil but more entertaining.

P.P.S. Two dives cannot make 7 goals when playing with one of strongest hockey team. Needed some other things.

Oh and those two dives also didn't play any part in giving Russia the momentum, getting two powerplays while being down 1:3 and 2:3. Definitely didn't change the momentum of the game one bit. :sarcasm:

It`s a big sport. Everybody use tricks for win. If no one of sweden, canadian, finland (and other "top-8 teams") never used tricks like dives, hidden kicks and so on - throw a stone to me.

P.S. I don`t like Yemelin`s dive, but most of all i don`t like when you guys say about it as if your teams don`t use it. Be honest, if`d your team won by such dives, you`d keep your mouths shut. Everyone blame someone, but not himself. Look at yourself first.

Where is Doug Murray when you need him? Piss poor refereeing, silly embellishing, ugly cross check yet Russia was by far the deserving winning team. Malkin = beast. Lots of Swedes are bitter whiners with serious attitude problems & are always looking for an excuse to blame someone else when things do not go their way - I readily agree. That is why I left Sweden 10 years ago 4ever! Sweden needs help in net! Think they will meet again in the semis though, what a great hate matchup?!?!

Franzén is resting against Italy, when he was asked if it hurts he said "Shove a fork up your nose, and that's about it" But he said that it's a common injury for hockey players, so he's alright.

I can't be bothered to discuss the game last night, it is what it is, but I think it's ridiculous do defend a player like Yemelin who was a disgrace to the sport last night. Yes, Russia won, and rightfully so, but to me it's not that big of a loss when I know how it happened.

Seems like Russia is kryptonite for Sweden, and Canada is Kryptonite for Finland.

Now swedes can drop Canada, we can drop Russia, and then we have the final. Good deal

Didint see the game as it was played same time with Finland's game, but hope they show tape-delay of this today. Would be fun to watch it neutrally, see how were the refs, as there has been some complaints filed here.. Thought, 7-3 is so big score I somehow feel that it cannot been decided only by the refs.

Epic game, poor refs and quite hilarious thread for a neutral viewer.

Not a lucky day for Franzen, when you look for troubles sometimes you get the wrong side of the stick and was it ever the case here for Johan.

He was the one starting the buzz acting like an ass, Emelin bought the provocation with his spearing, as someone said already it should have been 2mins for Franzen and 5mins+misconduct for Emelin. Instead Emelin stayed in the game and when his glorious dive was missed he went from provoked to provocateur.

The Kalinin cross-checking didn't look that bad to me.. looked more unfortunate (getting Franzen with his head down) than mean; the 5+20 was understandable, probably the right call, but i'm not sure he deserves a suspension. I could have even lived with a 2+2 there.

Btw, LOL @ those blaming Franzen for diving, on both situations (corsscheck and spearing)
.. also all these whines about Russian divings sound a lot like sour grapes; aside from that one Emelin's dive, i didn't notice anything wrong.

I guess Emelin will get suspended, it's due.

Nice to see Malkin staying focused on putting the puck into the net instead of letting the Swedes' 'attentions' bring him off his game.

However, I still like Sweden's chances better than Russia's for the rest of the tournament. Hopefully Franzen will be back.

Currently I think both Canada and Russia are kryptonite for Sweden, so don't count on anything :sarcasm:

It was a good and entertaining game, but the score doesn't reflect the score. The third period was a lot like the third period in last year's gold medal game. Our coaching staff and Fasth don't have the mental strength to "Get going when the going gets tough". It was Malkin's show in the third period.

Franzén wasn't an angel for sure, but I do not see how some people are saying that Malkin was "gooned out of the game" for the first half, he was involved in scrums, but that was it as far as I saw.

Franzen (broken nose) is OK, he will miss the game against Italy, and then he probably have to play with some protection for his nose.

It was an emotional game. Sweden had this game in thier hands, and then Franzen couldnt handle his frustration with the calls (and Yemelin I guess...) and picked up a gamechanging 2+2. And then he got himself injured, and our PP crumbled to dust. Then Malkin got into beast mode and well that was that.

I hope that we get better reffing in the final rounds, I think both Swedes and Russian can agree on that.

+1 from a Swede, except Landeskog did crosscheck Emelin in the chest, thats why it was kind of embarrassing when he held his face

I said it yesterday and I'll say it again - if that's where Emelin has his face, I wonder where his brain is because his anatomy is apparently non human.
