Turgeon has heavy feet. His first few strides are laborious.
Sheahan isn't the kind of skater who gets separation. But for a bigger guy (215 pounds), he's a good skater.
His combination of size, skating and defensive acumen will ensure he'll be in the NHL for a long time.

It's what makes Sheahan an NHLer and will make guys like Nosek and Turgeon AHLers.

Nosek plays in NHL, if you didn't know. 41 games at this season. Also Turgeon played last night in NHl, if you didn't know. Guy is a freaking rookie, he has 4 years of time to develop better than Sheahan ever was.

But keep trolling.

I want to see svech get a game or two this year. Maybe he will actually look decent, or maybe it will kickstart him in the AHL. Either way I think he needs a mix up at least for a game or two.

been thinking the same. I would really like to see him get a few games and get an impression of how his NHL game could look like

Window is getting smaller to make a decision. We need to see if he has a feature with Wings or trade him to join his brother during draft

Having the opposite opinion of someone isn't trolling.

I have yet to see a single NHL talent evaluation guy say a single negative thing about Riley Sheahan's skating.

He has powerful strides, covers a lot of ground and has good acceleration. I know I need to pretend to talk about his stride or something, sorry skating isn't an issue that Sheahan has. He is an athletic dude with a good skating motion that is how you get drafted in the first round. I completely disagree with those pretending that is an issue. He doesn't read the game offensively fast enough or shoot enough which is his one plus offensive skill. But the guy is a defensive forward that is likely to hang in the league for a while. I hope Turgeon can do the same.

I don't know when I last time checked that Hronek was team-leading +8. Now he is team-leading +13.

Is now tied with Russo as highest scoring defenceman, both have 4+15=19 points, but Hronek in less games.

Im saying for the wings. Unless you are adding on to my point.

Look, if you don’t want to have a constructive conversation about Riley Sheahan’s skating and how it influences how he plays hockey, don’t respond to a post about Riley Sheahan’s skating. Seriously, talk about coming to the nuisance. Conclusory, generic statements add nothing to a conversation and invite further explanation. You also don’t need commentary from coaches to construct a reasonable opinion about rudimentary hockey topics.

At the NHL level there is very little to like about his skating. If he had better one-step quickness he would have the ability to be more than a third defensemen, to get up in transition play and be more physical. He is the poster child for why the center position requires superior skating. If you want to be able to contribute at both ends of the rink while playing the position, you need to be a plus skater.

Hronek is quietly on a bit of a roll. 11 points past 15 games. 20 in 39. Nothing wrong with that!

Actually he has 21 points in 39 games with this 2-point game last night.
He ranks 4th in points among rookie Ds.
