Larsson played the most even strength minutes and had a takeaway with no giveaways. Merrill and Greene each had 3 giveways, and Harrold had 2. Also it seems like Gionta and Zubrus switched their faceoff ability today, Zubrus was at 33%, while Gionta was at 60% (!!).

Regardless, I hope we see Merrill wear #24 next season.

Giveaways is a pretty misleading stat. Greene and Harrold rack up giveaways because they're usually relied on to skate the puck out of the zone, and same with Merrill for a lesser extent. The guys who tend to carry the puck most often tend to finish very high in giveaways. On the flipside, you can tell Larsson's trying hard to play a really "safe" mistake-free game, which means handing the puck to someone else so he doesn't have to carry it and possibly lose it. What was that Lou quote about Larsson's confidence again?

Ya, but Greene still usually doesn't have that much...whatever meaningless game so I doubt he cared that much, but he still had 23 minutes of ice time so hopefully he can shoulder 22+ minutes a game next year.

Really does sound like Marty knows the torch is being passed to Schneider next season, whether he returns or not. A new era my friends, sad but like Marty said previously, we are in very good hands with Schneider!

Larsson almost gave them a breakaway but his diving poke was able to get it away.. I'm confident he and Gelinas will improve this summer (away from important games, when learning takes a backseat to winning in competitive sports)

Was a bad giveaway but a good non penalty poke to recover.

every defenseman is going to turn the puck over but it's about how well you recover. Sometimes you do, sometimes you don't, hopefully it's the latter most of the time.

But in that situation where he put it in the bruins basket he sort of handcuffed but it was a tremendous recovery. I would like to see a Merrill-Larsson pairing but I doubt Pete will do that.

Chico said he thought we might see 4 kids on D with the big club next year. How would that work? Greene, Fayne, Lars, Merrill, Gelly, Kid TBD and keep Zids as a 7th?

all I know is Salvador and Volch better not be back

I think one of them will be back. The question is, do they want to bite the bullet on the last year of Sal's contract and buy him out, like they did with Hedberg? Or do they want to buy out Volch's contract, which has more years on it, and let Sal play out the last year of his?

volchenkov at least is actually still a decent pk specialist. all i remember of sal this season is watching him look mad after getting scored on.

Said it on the other board..seems like chico and the rest know certain things...Chico said he thinks they're gonna use a buyout on someone. He didn't say who..and he said the team needs to get a center man and that the Devils should go after Stasny...

As for the 4 young kids...maybe Fayne isn't retained? Who knows..

Chico also said he heard from a scout that Severson is gonna be legit and top 4

Yea, I was gonna say, the 4th kid would have to be Severson. Not sure how I would feel about that.

Also, with the way Salvador has been banished these last few weeks makes me think he's the one that's getting jettisoned, or at least I hope.

He distinctly said "my last game HERE" sucks, but that is what he said...roll the tape and your stomach will drop.

I did notice that Freudian slip...he tried to catch himself later by saying maybe but he did distinctly say that initially.

He all but admitted in the postgame that 'two #1 goalies' won't work, and he probably knows as long as he's going to be here there's always going to be that pressure and desire to be the #1. At least he seems at peace a little more with the whole thing now. This was the perfect ending if it was the ending.

Marty saying being a GM would interest him in the future and would hate playing against the devils. Said it would be the hardest part IF he leaves.

Tg I guess taking this as a hint he would go west if he left I guess.
