If they can't win against a team with Dylan Strome as their top center, they don't belong in the playoffs.

The Caps are obviously a one line team, and that one line isn't even all that good. Fester could match up the second or third line against Ovie, and match up the top line against one of their younger centers.

Caps play a very low event style system. They try to completely grind the game out and have goalied teams with Lindgren in net. Will be interesting to see which goalie we get.

Edit- looks like we get Lindgren as Kuemper is in net tonight.

Big 4 point swing game with the Caps who are hot our tails for a playoff spot....

Hopefully with the Caps being on the tail end of a b2b will mean the wings will have fresher legs and more jump. hopefully.

Caps and Islanders both won last night. so there's that...
we now lead the Caps by 7 points but they have 1 game in hand. these are 2 big points.
no time to falter.

Lets get it done.

Gotta play more like we did vs St. Louis than we did vs Chicago. You aren't going to win many games playing like the latter. Come out strong. We're a better team than the Caps, gotta play like it

This is the Caps 3rd game is 4 nights and comes off a home to away back to back...statistically speaking (ignore last Sunday's result), the wings should win it. The wings were lucky to have the Hawks in their similar situation last Sunday, the Caps get the wings.

every game at this time of year is a "big game", but the next 2 are absolutely huge to keep the teams chasing us down.

I have no idea how this Caps teams is still in the race, but they're not going away, and I expect them to come out firing despite having played a lot recently. We need a much better effort from start to finish then the effort against Chicago.

Wings will have to deal with something they haven't been in a while, tonight and Thursday they are the "hunted" team and will most likely get desperate efforts from the Caps and Isles. Need A+ efforts this week.

HUGE WEEK. HUGE GAME. Need to win 2 of 3 and that loss is to the Panthers.

Need to put some space between us and the Caps tonight. 7 points ahead of the Caps and they have a game in hand.

Boys have a four game road trip which includes Vegas and Colorado as well Arizona and the Caps. My hope we get at least five points before we go on that trip and get at least four points on the road.

Back-to-back is not the significant disadvantage some fans think and probably won't be a factor tonight. Caps coming off an easy 6-3 win at home, scoring four in the first period ahd having a three-goal lead after two, no rough stuff. Their No. 1 goalie, Lindgren, will start and has been great. They play a four-line, three-pair balanced usage lineup, much like Wings. Ovie coming off a scoreless minus-3 game will want to get back on track. Overall this season they are 6-3-2 in the second of back to back games, if I've counted all of them correctly, with all six wins on the road. All six B2B wins came in their first six games though, and they're winless in the last five.

Despite some key player losses Caps are generally playing better than expected and this is a huge game for them. Almost certainly will be a one-goal game in the third period and could go either way. So, having said that, it will probably be a blowout either way lol. Wings should play better though after that Chicago performance and they've been better than Caps on both special teams. It's a big mistake though IMO to think the Wings should have a relatively comfortable win or a wide edge in play. Overwhelming majority of their wins are close games and many wins even when out-chanced.

"With tonight's opposing coaches being named Derek Lalonde for the Wings, and Spencer Carbery for the Capitals, one's thought might naturally turn to Sir Derek Spencer, who until 1997 was a barrister and member of Parliament, as well as a Master of the Bench, Gray's Inn - a society for barristers with at least 500 years of tradition in London, the capital of England and the UK. 500 is also the rough number of highway miles between Detroit and Washington D.C., and it's an even longer journey to get from the NHL to Parliament. Tonight fans of the Winged Wheel are going be hoping that tonight's coach Derek is a better Master of the Bench than was last century's Sir Derek."

It's nice to again need to check the standings each night to see if the teams that need to lose do indeed lose.
