Yes and no.

The Stoll contract was just bad, it was bad when he signed it, it's bad today and it will be bad next season.

There are certainly plenty of other guys who have given the Kings worse value this season than those two (Brown, Greene, Richards, Mitchell), but those guys have built up equity of past success with the team. Giving up almost 10% of your cap space to Stoll and Regehr was not good asset management by the Kings.

So who would the better options have been at the time of those signings? Just any semi-warm body?

Who else were the Kings going to have in their spots? When Stoll was re-signed, Vey was finishing up his first year in the AHL.

And since Scuderi was going back home to the east coast, who else would the Kings have been able to get to fill that spot? At least who would fans have been ok with. Not after the fact if player X had proven to be a great pick up. When it was done. Who's the defenseman that would've been a good get last summer? How many defensemen even changed teams over the summer?

This is Herby's favorite horse to beat into the ground. We've gone over this point as to the who's and why's of Stoll's contract, yet he refuses to let it go.

Who should be there instead? Don't say Vey. He finished his rookie year in the AHL when Stoll signed. Don't say Scuderi. He was going back to the east the whole time.

I'm saying as of right now having them strapped down for 6 million is bad.
