He doesn't have the space to, really.
If he really wanted to he could. He currently has $2.4m in cap space plus he's allowed to exceed the cap by 10% during the summer so there's another $8.3m
Of course that would mean he'd have no room to sign Lindholm or any other Calgary 2024 UFA's should he have an overwhelming urge do do so. Or maybe he would if the cap goes up in 2024 as much as some are predicting it will...

Their extensions wouldn't kick until 2024 anyway. The salary makeup would have changed again by then.

For those mentioning twitter issues today, this was Musk's post earlier this morning:
To address extreme levels of data scraping & system manipulation, we’ve applied the following temporary limits:

- Verified accounts are limited to reading 6000 posts/day
- Unverified accounts to 600 posts/day
- New unverified accounts to 300/day

Expect a guy like Drouin to get a look later this summer. This franchise has been talking about getting Huberdeau’s ‘swag’ back, and bringing in his buddy could be one of those ‘we’ll scratch your back’ type moves.

Not re-signing Lewis & Lucic is a win in itself

But Conroy should bring back Hathaway. Flames desperately need someone with that pesty zesty presence

100% agree. Hathaway would be a great energy/glue guy to bring (back) into the fold especially if we are moving a lot of our veteran leadership out this year.

Now I’m salivating at the idea of Hathaway and Duehr on the same line…

Thanks to the wizard, the Flames don’t even have cash to sign a minimum salary guy

That’s how you build the team……and run

Treliving knew what was coming... I mean how could he not? This clusterf*** wasn't something that unknowingly appeared on the horizon a few months ago. Rhett said it best.

Most GM's get fired before the garbage starts to really stink but in this case since that didn't happen and ownership wanted him to stay on, he had to get out of town with the equivalent of a Midnight Move leaving Conroy holding the bag and deal with the mess.

One again free agency overrated. Yzerman pissing away valuable cap space on guys like Holl and Compher. Killorn with a retirement contract. I do wish we did have some cap space to have overpaid someone like Geekie based on projection.
