Depends what you consider "good" 4 liners. If we are using Fogerty as the example of a "good" forth line NHl than the bar is mighty low considering he's not even a NHL regular.
You’re missing the point.

IF Foggsy develops into a good 4th liner it will be a benefit to the team’s salary cap structure. Look around: we bemoan cheap bottom line signing because they could barely play or go up in arm when good ones are overpaid on a multi-year contracts.

Edit: very happy for the kid to finally get his cup of tea. Want him to make it but just think that Nieves has a better chance once he accumulates another 10-20 games in Hartford. Either one would have a better chance if they learned to drop the gloves once in awhile.

Well Steven has worked hard for this. Tells me though that Zucc isn't coming back all that soon. Hopefully Fogarty does well.

He should have been the 4th line C to start the season. I am glad they are giving him a shot. he went down to the AHL and absolutely went on a run when it would have been easy for him to sulk. He's a big body who knows how to keep the game simple but also understands how to create some offense. He should be a prime PKer right out of the gate

Haha, you aren't comparing a 25 year old with one NHL game under his belt with those guys are you?

I'm sure you could get quite a few 4th liners for league min...that also come with NHL experience..

You're totally missing the point. He's not saying Fogarty is one of those guys, he's saying the development of guys (hopefully Fogarty) who can fill that position for cheaper than signing Komarov, etc is really important to a team's success. And he's right.

Hopefully Fogarty, Nieves, etc. will become some of those guys. Because the other options are fill with the Mcleod's of the world for cheap or overpay for glorified grinders.

Yes adding Fogarty and Strome has the potential to pay immediate dividends on the PK, if they're are used there (they should be).

Our pk sucks mostly because staal and pionk are atrocious back there on the pk.

Our defense really gets exposed when they have sustained pressure against.

This x100000000.

Zucc and Zibanejad suck on it too.

Take those 4 out and rotate others in and you'll see an improvement. Maybe not a huge one, but for sure an improvement.

Our D gets exposed at lighter pressure too. It’s why we seem to have 15+ seconds of zone time to get one solid chance, and our opponents can do it after 5 seconds and three quick passes but at least we’re protecting the slot this year.

Coach Q preaches to get more shots on net more often to counteract this issue once we have good possession but that won’t improve it from the quality perspective.

They could actually have Lias play on the PK. He's done it at every level and is a defensive center

I don't think he'll mind.

We'll see if he can kill penalties though.

Gotta say, before this season, of all our property in the AHL that I expected to get a call-up, Fogarty was pretty low on the list.

He played well in the pre-season. He's a bit on the slow side and he played with no talent whatsoever but he makes smart plays, checks hard at both ends... Other than Nieves I didn't think anyone in Hartford even had a chance (lias notwithstanding).

If you're ever in New York, well, you better do the right;
You better not gamble, there, you better not fight, at all
Or the sheriff will grab ya and the boys will bring you down.
The next thing you know, boy, Oh! You're Hartford bound.

Pionk does a whole lotta nothing running around and Staal does a whole lotta nothing standing around.

im worrying that this new influx has us alot slower and more defensive. our team speed already lacks against faster more uptempo teams. speed and skill is the new nhl. these guys dont really scream that.

LA not fast.
strome not fast
fogarty not fast.
mcleod not fast.

thats alot of not fast tonight.

seeing a trend.
