Having Monahan slotted as a 3rd liner winger would do that.

There is virtually no difference between 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line usage (minutes/competition) in today's NHL except the other two players you're playing with. Saying Monahan would look good on Jankowski, Bennett or Backlund's wing across from Versteeg/Frolik, Gaudreau or Tkachuk respectively is nothing of consequence.

Sure, nothing of consequence. However, he's been our 1C for the last few years now and doing a decent job at it.
