I guess I'll start with my crazy proposal.

Sign:

Lecavalier ($22.5M for 3 years)

Hudler - Lecavalier - Horton
Glencross - Zibanejad - Jones
Baertschi - Monahan - Filppula
Cooke - Stajan - Stempniak

Giordano - Wideman
Brodie - Cundari
O'Brien - Butler
Smith

What do you guys think of signing Bozak? Seems like he wants an absurd amount of money.. but another young centre couldn't hurt.

What are the rules on picking up Keith Ballard. I always liked him, played well in Florida and phoenix i thought. With him on waivers that's a perfect way to pick up a top 4 D-man.

I like everything except no Filpp, Horton and Vinny and no way to Ballard.

Not sure how Ballard is a good pickup, he's slow as hell, overpriced, and gets beaten on a shift by shift basis.

Flat out wrong. Ballard is a good skater who can play physical, throws massive hip checks, blocks a decent amount of shots but can make bad decisions with the puck. Was just a poor fit in Vancouver's system.

I would just sign David Clarkson to prop up the RW depth and let a bunch of positions stay open for competition from within. Keep 2012/2013 draftees away from the NHL, continue development.

Glencross-Cammalleri-D. Jones
Hudler-Backlund-Stempniak
Baertschi-Stajan-Clarkson

Remaining 5 fws from this group - Reinhart, Horak, Knight,B.Jones, Jackman, McGrattan, Bouma, Street, Nemisz and Byron

Wideman-Giordano
Brodie-Obrien
Cundari-Butler
Smith-Breen

Raamo, MacDonald, Berra, Ortio

Clarkson is a more sought after FA than Iginla this offseason. How much money would you be willing to throw at him to get him to sign here, 6, 6.5, 7+ million? I'd take Clarkson any day over Horton and Horton will get around 6. We all need to face the facts that we won't be signing top FA's for at least 2 seasons. Our best options are to acquire a young piece via trade.
