The absence of Spezza and Staal is not the biggest problem on this team.

The defense is just slow and stupid.

And the entire team is lazy as well.

That's exactly it.

1.) Pat Quinn is entirely responsible for the composition of this team.
2.) This team has no skill.

Your observations are astute as always.
McCabe on this team is a direct result of fat Quinn. He had a big say.
Quinn's line juggling sucks as usual and so does he.

Agree McCabe and Pronger look bad, dont't agree on Redden though, so far he is Canada'a steadiest blueliner.

The decline of Canadian international Hockey as we know it.

Exactly, we are the defending back to back junior champs, previous repeat world champs, defending world cup champs, and defending olympic champs.

DECLINE!!

Believe it or not I think they miss Jovanovski

Yes they do. And Niedermayer too.

In 2002, Jovanovski and Niedermayer were their best defencemen. They both are great skaters who know how to move the puck out of the zone.

Phaneuf, Crosby, Stall, and the elimination of fat Quinn.
That would have made a huge difference.

Pretty pathetic period overall from a Canadian standpoint. Finns were great, a ton of pressure and a lot of effort. But Canada's defence lost a ton of battles and looked really shaky out there. Luongo really kept the score as low as it is.

But with that said, no need to think the sky is falling in. There are still 40 minutes left to get back into this game. I'm sure we'll come out in the 2nd fired up and put some pressure on the Finns and get some chances.

Wow, McCabe is awful.

McCabe wasn't on the ice for either goal yet the comments about him continue.

What about Prongers complete inability to contain Koivu on the Finns first goal? A guy have his size was able to muscle him off the puck?

Oh but that would negate the argument that Canada's lack of success is directly attributed to Pat Quinn and Bryan McCabe.

Canada has a major disadvantage : none of its players has ever played puck possession. They can't stay in the offensive zone on a bigger ice surface. That's as simple as that.

Finland = gold
