Fanbases getting fooled by inflated shooting %s is my favourite trope.

He could not beat a goalie with a shot until his 5th season in the league. No I'm not kidding you can go look at all his goals from his first 4 seasons and you won't find a single one that isn't a rebound, deflection, or an open net. His finishing ability now is in a completely different universe than it used to be.
The second goal of his career was a slapshot from 40 feet out that beat Holtby clean.

My favourite HF trope is when a player is having a legit breakout, and <mod edit: people> on HF can't wait to point out a high shooting %, even though if you regressed it back to his career average the player would still be setting a career high in scoring by like 30-40 points.

Vancouver is just weird. During the 1st half they were among the league's best offensive teams with overheated shooting percentages. Everyone said "that won't last, they don't play playoff hockey."

And now in the 2nd half their offense has fallen off, but they've been one of the league's best defensive teams, winning most of their games in "playoff style" and dominating 5v5.

No clue what to expect from them.

Yea, everyone said the wins were PDO driven, but there was clearly more than that. They were a solid team that was able to sit on leads because they were shooting hot. Now their possession numbers are much better because they’re not getting those easy leads. The biggest issue seems to be the PP though. If they can get it back on track then they can win games playing like they have been 5v5. If not, they’ll be in tough to go far.

A lot of people who didn't understand stats and saw high PDO, the people with a bit more understanding could see that the high PDO was due to many early blowouts followed by the strong defensive play we've seen after the allstar break.

It's like you are completely missing the point of everyone saying don't buy into the canucks.

The Canucks are one of the best xG teams in the league, and also one of the best 5v5 teams.
