@SabresProspects - Didn't take long for Cornel to get started last night for Peterborough. Backhand feed ten seconds in for an helper. Rebound of his PP slapper gets potted in third.

Eric Cornel (+1) notched a pair of assists Thursday as Peterborough opened the 2015-2016 schedule with a 5-4 victory over Ottawa.

Cornel did not do much in this summer or in training camp this year to impress. It's going to take a huge year for him to earn a contract.

Kris Baker @SabresProspects - Saturday, October 3 -

Eric Cornel cashed his first goal of the year in Peterborough's 3-2 win over Niagara.

@SabresProspects -

Eric Cornel forced extra time with a PPG at 18:44 of the 3rd, but PBO lost to KGN 4-3 in a shootout. Cornel (10 GP - 3G-7A-10 PTS) team-high 7 SOG.

Taken From The Game Recap - GoPetesGo.com -
The Petes would tie the game with 1:16 to play in regulation, much to the elation of Petes fans in attendance, as Eric Cornel ended their lengthy power-play drought with a goal from the doorstep, forcing overtime - goal assisted by Betzold and Lorentz.

@SabresProspects -

Eric Cornel extends his point streak to six games with his sixth goal of the year. Peterborough leads Ottawa 3-2.
The goal was on a play he needs to keep making. Crossed blueline, split D down the middle and finished with backhand.

LaxSabre - Eric Cornel had two penalty minutes in Team OHL's 2-1 win over Russia on Monday evening.
The penalty could have been costly as it was a delay of game call at 18:56 of the third period.
The penalty gave Russia a late power-play for 1:04 which Team OHL killed off for the win. The win clinch the series for the CHL.
No idea if Cornel had any shots on goal as the boxscore doesn't list individual shots on goal.
His plus/minus was 0 - Cornel wasn't on the ice for the one regular goal that was scored. The other two goals were scored via the power-play.

Eh, for a fourth-year forward with some offensive chops, his production seems a little underwhelming.

Yeah, not that impressed. Don't see him ever making an impact with the Sabres. Might carve out a few years in the minors and head off to Europe though.

Too bad as he's a product of my minor hockey association. Hutt's making up for that though.

Friday, November 27 - One night after seeing his eight-game point streak snapped in a 3-1 win over Sarnia, Eric Cornel notched his first-ever OHL hat trick to earn the game's first star as Peterborough took down Oshawa 4-2 on Friday. Cornel put his top-notch release on display with his third of the night, the eventual game-winner, at 14:08 of the middle frame to give him 27 points through 26 games. He has turned it up of late, recording 15 points (8+7) in his last 10 contests.

Saturday, November 28 - Eric Cornel remained red-hot on Saturday, scoring a pair of goals and adding an assist as Peterborough rolled past Oshawa 5-1. Cornel was excellent in November, posting 10 goals and 18 points in his last 12 games. The productive month boosts Cornel's season numbers to 13 goals and 30 points through 27 contests. With a hat trick on Friday and another three-point night on Saturday, perhaps Cornel can earn OHL Player of the Week honors come Monday.
