Finland is getting ridiculous... Imagine a line of Tolvanen - Barkov - Laine hahahahha
Now list the rest of the 9 forwards...
It's not "ridiculous", but Team Finland's roster is finally the real deal when it comes to offense (That is, if we ever see NHL level tournament in the near future and Finland is led by a competent coach instead of garbage like Marjamäki)
In addition of Laine - Barkov - Tolvanen (who should not yet counted as an elite player. 1st line would be more like Rantanen - Barkov - Laine):
Rantanen - Aho - Teräväinen
Granlund - Koivu - Haula/Puljujärvi/Kapanen
Armia - Filppula - Komarov (shutdown line)
Not saying that is better than Canada and current Finnish D-corps is an average at best (and defense is crap compared to Can/Swe)
Back to topic, I'm a bit surprised about Tolvanen's conract. It's basically the best contract any rookie can get and his draft number was 30. That must be a weird record of some kind. I guess Olympics and Jokerit playoff run nailed it. Tolvanen was his team's best goal scorer in both cases (or shared the place in Jokerit). Did not help his team to win Cup/Championship, but anyway scored more goals than most of his veteran team mates, while still rocking a teenage moustache.
That being said, Tolvanen's rookie contract makes him a bit overrated unless proved otherwise. His shot is elite, but not Laine/Ovie/Stamkos level and he is physically much weaker. His skating is smooth, but not overly fast. Tolvanen's offensive hockey IQ will make the difference if he ever becomes an elite player (as is the case with most players)
Hope he does even better, but I would predict Tolvanen's prime potential being like 30 goal scorer. And that is as realistic as a failure and shipping back to KHL. I doubt there is need for Tolvanen if he does not make it to PP specialist and top 6.
