That was ugly. If you go to an away game and your team loses you have to act with a little dignity.

My favorite are the few random people commenting like “well you did wave at him, what did you expect?” Lol. Like assaulting someone for waving is a reasonable and completely grounded response.

My buddy who was at the game said he saw the Devils fan/worker with an EMT and was holding a towel to his bloody face.

It’s crazy right? These people get paid to analyze the game objectively and instead all they give is the most shallow fanboy takes.

This isn’t new. See: 1995 devils vs. red wings
I have to think that so much is colored by different levels of nostalgia: wanting certain teams to do well because they remember them from when they were young (I feel like that's the reason why the Isles often get a lot of positive coverage, lots of analysts who were kids in the early 80s), or with more modern stuff they just love players like Patrick Kane and want to believe he's still the player he was 7 years ago, so plop him on Broadway and suddenly he's part of the "Showtime Rangers" or some shit that was never, ever reflected in the Rags' actual production or playing style.

I get that it's not easy to analyze the entire league well, some teams will get more scrutiny (positive or negative) than others, but man, the idea that the Rags were ever on the level of the other top teams in the league this year in terms of well-rounded play stems from pure laziness, because a cursory glance at some basic numbers (and plenty of eye test material!) would tell you they were not a strong skating group and their defense has some serious weaknesses in it.

Oh damn, meant to check, are Matt and Chico's calls from last night floating around, too?

Only Stan could cite the Hessians, he was covering the Revolutionary War after all!

Well done by Stan. That's almost like something one of us would say impersonating him. That's probably one of the most stereotypical ''Stan Fischler is very old'' posts that Stan himself could make lol. He really set himself up with the hessians comment hahahahaha.

It sounds like he's showing his frustrations with the Rangers there. Every once in a while he shows his Rangers fandom.

I know Stan isn't really an active media member anymore, nor employed by MSG anymore (unless they cut him a pension lol) but that may have been the first time I've ever heard or read Stan publicly suggest a coaching change.

My wife was a district attorney in Brooklyn for a number of years. She had a case where a guy shot another guy for looking wrong at his girlfriend. Why anyone would think punching someone in today’s world is a good idea is beyond me.

Hope they find this scumbag. “Grown” ass toddler man throwing sucker punches

Hard to tell from that video but what was the worker doing? It kinda looks like he intentionally stepped in front of/bumped the woman going up the stairs. Could have been an accident and the other guy overreacted.

Nope. He always stands on the railing to hold signs. He simply stepped off without looking. A mistake.

Looks like he was kind of standing on the hand rail holding a sign, and the woman tried to walk behind him as he stepped down at the same time and accidentally bumped her. Clearly unintentional and an insane overreaction from the Rags fan throwing the temper tantrum.

Yeah you can see the Devils worker accidentally bumps into the guys wife/gf/sister/whatever but didn't even see her. Definitely didn't mean to do it. Guy then just sucker punches him.

Recording the Rangers encore at 3pm so I can hear the tears flowing from Sam and Joe.

And also watched Boomer this morning, he was one salty dude, just basically bashing the state of NJ.
Listen to the criticism in Joe's voice on the Fox turnover. I listened to all the goal calls last night on the Ranger broadcast. "10 seconds of the worst we've seen of Fox in a long long time"

Balance has been restored!

Not gonna lie the first two games mentally broke me and I had re-evaluate my relationship to sports, somehow took it way too personal. I let the main board get into my head, how the Devils are not built for playoffs, weak and inexperienced, how Bruno is a regular season coach, how Lindy can't win. And that the playoffs are a whole different game and regular season doesn't matter. Well turns out when the Devils stop trying to play like a playoff team is "supposed to play", and play their game from regular season they actually start winning.

Incredible performances especially in games 4, 5 and 7. Just seeing what they can do in game 4 would have been enough for me, seeing that they can play playoff hockey and dominate just as regular season. But to actually beat these guys after all the shit their fans were talking after game2 feels so great. Finally getting series win after 11 years is all I could hope for and everything else is just a plus. Extremely happy and excited to see how far they can go this year and in the future.

I've been a Devils fans since the early 90s, but the tv coverage here in Finland was abysmal especially in the 90s. You caught a game here and another one there, some highlights but missed most of it and just tried to keep up with things through hockey magazines and trading cards. When things finally got to the point that I could follow every game, every prospect, every training camp.. One of the worst decades of Devils hockey soon followed. I've never been as immersed in the Devils as I'm now, so this season and just this first round win feels incredibly rewarding for all the losing we went through.

That angle shows his 'stand your ground' argument. The employee accidentally bumped into this presumably wife. But that will be his argument.

The first angle doesn't show it.

Either way - you can't do that. And coincidentally I remember seeing this guy's face in some of the regular footage during the game (maybe before?).

Good thing we don't live in Florida, she was barely brushed and certainly wasn't in any danger.

Side note, I think having these workers hold signs down there looks extremely lame and adds nothing to the atmosphere so this mess might be the end of them being in the aisles now cause of it.
