Feels like PLD to Boston makes alot of sense. Bruins are poentially about to lose their top 2 centres and O'Rielly is the only UFA option. Trade Ullmark+Grzelyck/Hall and then use those assets on PLD?
Cap space and the needing to sign a team (almost) drastically limits that, but it's not impossible.

If the Bruins trade Hall and Ullmark to Winnipeg then maybe

Dubois decides if you get 50 cents on the dollar compared to 75 cents because he doesn’t need to sign a long term deal with whoever the highest bidder is in a trade that benefits Winnipeg. If he isn’t offered the money he thinks he’s worth by the team he wants to commit the next 8 years of his life too, then it may be in his best interest to bet on himself for a year. And after coming out and saying he’s all but done in Winnipeg, everybody knows he can’t go back to that organization without being a distraction. Winnipeg is in a pickle.
When it comes to the trade itself, Dubois doesn't decide a damn thing. Cheveldayoff is the one calling the shots, with Dubois' only alternative being sitting at home and giving up a prime year of the only NHL career that he will ever have. He's just not going to do that, so if Chevy decides that there aren't any good trades on offer, PLD will do what he should have done in the first place - go back to Winnipeg for a year, get traded to a contender at the deadline, and then sign whatever you want with whoever you want in 2024. I still cannot understand how he could have foreseen this as the best way to do things.

Sure, it might be a distraction, but hey - PLD chose his path. I'd imagine his choice will carry quite a hefty price tag in the end.

There goes one of the potential 2-3 suitors for PLD.

Market decreasing, Chevy asking too much and team are backing out. He'll come at a bargain

He can sign his QO and not report also. Or an OS.

If Chevy told him he'd trade him before July 1st and it hasn't happen, PLD won't owe him anything and could sign a 4.2M OS and not regret a single second

Except when he takes a paycut, gets hurt and misses out on millions of dollars…

He's not signing a lowball offersheet. He's not going to take that risk, because he's not getting 8x8 after a 30-point season on the Jets' third line playing 12 minutes a night.

Not reporting would also be a dumb move, because that only postpones his UFA status by another year (and lowers his value as a UFA).

Never knew if they were in outside maybe a rental, which they still have space for.

No one knows the list.
Fair. Colorado fans have been kicking tires in this thread, one poster said they'd easily beat Montreal's offer. So at least for the purposes of this thread, they're out.

They're going to pay 25 million for their top 3 centers this season and next? And pay assets to do so?

Remember, pld is coming with an 8 year contract.

He got older. Trade value just took another hit
That really throws a wrench in things, they'll have to start negotiations all over again now with this unexpected turn of events

The Jets are going to take the best deal. If Brisson can't come to a long term agreement with teams or they're offering nothing and the best deal is to the Avs without a contract, then he'll go there.

Get over it already.

Playing PLD on the 3rd line would mean no one will ever want to play for the Jets lol.

Word gets around the league buddy, GL signing anyone after that if you ruon a guy career because your GM is a crybaby "boobooboo im not being offered a top pick or top player for a guy whos a rental"

Avs aren't offering the best deal anymore. They have their stopgap center.

If he signs a 3rd liner contract he shouldn't complain about playing 3rd liner minutes

Third line money for a guy who has made it clear that he doesn't want to play here... so let's not make him play too much, right? ;)

Players are already trying to run away from Winnipeg, but it will get better if Dubois is punished on the 3rd line?

Is there too much fluoride in the water?
