I didn't like the play of the Devils at all. They were talking shots all night.

The fact this wasn't called as a major and Sustr somehow got a roughing call for being cheap shotted shows how on point the refs were last night.

Sustr absolutely deserved a roughing call, and in no way was he cheap shotted. You can't jump a guy no matter the circumstances, and if you do jump a guy, you deserve whatever is coming to you.

Doesn't look like he left the ice until contact was initiated so he didn't jump into it.

It was 100% a hit from behind, right into the numbers, and no mitigating factors. Going against Wood is that he had ample time to pull up.. going for him is that the contact with the boards wasn't extremely violent..

With no injury on the play but only a minor called, I imagine this will get a 1-2 game suspension (1 if no previous history, 2 if previous history). I would be surprised if it gets 5+ games based on previous precedents though.

Was pretty spot on here. You'll notice the DoPS never mentioned that Wood charged/left his feet, because he didn't until after contact. The suspension was purely for boarding. I'm actually surprised he even got 2 games by how little was mentioned in the video (it seems like they may have even rushed it out because the Devils play tonight because they didn't do a lot of other things they usually do like mention injury status) but as I wrote yesterday, 1-2 games was fair.

Wood is not very stable, I think he legit might be mentally ill.. just about every game he's screaming at someone or doing something dirty.

That being said he's a great bottom 6er to have, very agitating and skates with the best of them. Idea energy line forward

He has more goals than most of their forwards. Not bad for a 4th liner.

Too bad he isn't gonna have enough goals to help Jersey make the playoffs

Bad hit, but frankly I'm not even sure he gets suspended. Should have been 5 and a game though, which makes me think the league may try and equalize after the fact.

Well New Jersey’s already in a playoff spot and has been all year and Chicago isn’t so I don’t see how that validates his comment or undermines mine.
