The Isles have drafted hockey players that understand the game better than the athletes who happen to play hockey. You can have the greatest tools on the planet, if you don't 'get it' then you never will.

It's too bad the Oilers didn't emphasize hockey IQ more during their drafts outside of their top picks because they suck at it. Even Hall and Yakupov have relatively low hockey IQ for #1 overall picks. RNH has it in spades, but unfortunately he's Craig Janney 2.0.

Craig Janney was pretty much a PPG player for his career. That's not bad at all.

Reading some of these posts, I'd love a trade with Edmonton that would bring Hall and/or David Perron to the Islanders.

Perron is really slick, and Taylor Hall is real close to being a complete hockey player. He's skilled and fearless.

Who would I be willing to part with?

- Josh Bailey
- Matt Donovan
- Griffin Reinhart (But only if he brings Taylor Hall back)
- Scott Mayfield
- Kevin Czurkman [Spelling, I don't care!]

If Edmonton needs D and they love Reinhart, I'd press hard for Taylor Hall. I'd throw in one of the other defenseman, and make Josh Bailey for David Perron and even swap.

I would make the following trade in a fraction of a heartbeat:

Josh Bailey, Griffin Reinhart, Matt Donovan, and 2016 #1

-for-

Taylor Hall, David Perron, and Jordan Eberle

Validation:

Josh Bailey/David Perron is even

Taylor Hall/Griffin Reinhart and Matt Donavan is even

Jordan Eberle/2016#1 and contract relief for Oilers is even

Will this ever happen? Not a chance! But it is somewhat fun to speculate. Maybe I just make this trade on my Xbox.

Ummm because they want to trade him??????

Another fact you're fabricating?

Listen, stick to what you know instead of pretending what you THINK is fact. I really hate when people do that.

Also, even if it were true it wouldn't be dispositive of your prior fabrication that they regret drafting him.

Stick to what you know, not what you don't.

The rumor was that Katz over ruled his front office, insisted they draft Nail.

It is absolutely amazing the world of good that comes from a hockey team owner making operational decisions. It's like, no way that can go bad.

If that story is true you just have to cringe for Oiler fans.

How long have they been rebuilding?

Rather than just looking at the stats, how familiar are you with Janney? I was in college here in Boston and saw quite a bit of him. Very talented playmaker, perimeter player who didn't offer too much else. Also consider the era when Janney played, it was quite high scoring.

RNH is a former #1 overall, I would expect more than a Janney clone... I consider that a bit of a disappointment. RNH is still a perimeter player who can't/won't take matters into his own hands. I still have serious doubts that he'll be a true stud #1C, I see a PP specialist and #2C - I did back when he was drafted and now in his 4th season.

The only way I would trade Reinhart is if either Hall or their 2015 first round pick is involved. Not interested in RNH, Yak, or Eberle. Not really interested in Perron either but him and Bailey as part of some deal would be acceptable.

Don't know what Edmonton would do. Don't know what MacTavish is stupid enough to do. (A good example of why ice hockey players should always wear helmets). Though if MacT has any brains left at all inside of his skull, he would decide that Reinhart would cost too much.

You really believe with Yak's inconsistent, disappointing development and the team's lack f on ice success, that Edmonton is happy having taken Yak first overall?

That,s like saying the isles were happy having ended up with Nino in the end:shakehead

Their meddling owner may be even worse then Wang.

At least Wang leaves his scouting staff and front office alone to make player decisions.
I think they've missed the playoffs what 8 straight yrs now?

I don't BELIEVE anything. I accept the facts as they are and disregard the ones that are purely conjecture.

The other poster presented conjecture as fact, which it isn't.

Don't confuse my refusal to accept opinion as fact to be anything other than exactly that. I'm not hoisting some alternative opinion as fact, I'm simply refusing to give credit to someone else's.

Facts are facts. I HATE when someone presents something other than fact and insists it is true. Let's stick to the facts.

You tell them Jay.

And for the Griffin Reinhart lovers, he has not exactly killed it down in BP. I have been very disappointed in him and Collberg.

I would entertain trading him in the right package.

Anyone who thinks Hall is getting traded for prospects or non-impact players is deluded - seriously deluded.

Yakupov has little-to-none trade value...except maybe another disappointing prospect, similar age, maybe different position or type of player. Like Turris for Rundblad.

The Oilers have serious problems but they aren't going to get fleeced for their superstar. TheIslanders were horrible for so long, would Tavares be traded for Teddy Purcell, Darnell Nurse and mark Arcobello?

Ridiculous.

Yak and maybe Schultz are the two Oilers who's value is low right now and only getting lower. If I am EDM, I am selling those guys right now before their value drops even more.

I feel like if they want to get some serious value on a return they are going to have to trade Eberle, one of their better players. I would hold onto RNH unless you can get a serious return for him.

In all honesty... They are not that hard to fix but if I am management over there I am selling this season because of the talent in the draft, wait until the off-season and make some more noise but really that team has some good young players who management has really misused and has not developed properly because of it. I honestly feel bad for the young guys because of the loser mentality and environment over there... Sucks for the fans too because like them as an Islander fan we have been through it for a very long time.

Wait. I don't pay much attention to who posts what, but weren't you the same guy complaining about others using straw men?

I don't really understand why some of you guys are so high about Collberg. To be honest, has hasn't proved much during his career, except his performances in the junior world cups. I've been following him closely for years, since I live in Göteborg and I'm a big fan of Frölunda. His former swedish club.

I will get very, very surprised if he becomes a regular NHL player.

3 different EDM-NYI trades

Couple different trades:
Edm-NYI
1. Josh Bailey for David Perron
2. Griffin Reinhart and Matt Donovan for 2015 1st
3. Bailey Reinhart and 2016 1st for Hall

Thoughts?

1. Stop trying to trade Bailey, he is a good player, and an important part of this team.
2. Hall won't be traded, would you trade Tavares for Nurse Pouliot and a 2016 first? Of course not, terrible proposal.
3. STOP TRYING TO FIX WHATS NOT BROKEN. The team is playing great hockey, why in the world do you want to make a trade that is going to change the dynamic of the locker room and chemistry? It makes no sense.
4. Let Reinhart develop he isn't being traded.

Yes. There is no straw man. Do you know what a straw man is? This is just a case of someone presenting opinion as fact.

Another frequent event is that someone sees that I'm challenging a persons presentation of opinion as fact and presumes that I have a different opinion on the matter. Not the case at all. I simply cannot stand by idly while someone puts forward opinion as though it were proven fact.

No one knows how the management team of the Edmonton Oilers feels about drafting Nail Yakupov other than that management team.

Yow, Janny the Nanny is what he used to be known as. Could go into the corner with a pocket full of eggs and come out with all unbroken.
High skill guy but as inferred, allergic to any contact in a collision sport :help:
