Bratt doesn't 'want out' as much as he 'wants to get paid'. Unfortunately him getting paid looks like it'll have that effect since the Devils can't risk him going to FA and losing him for nothing, nor can they really pay full UFA value to Bratt when he has two RFA years left.

The arbitration number kind of shifted the blame for me. *shrugs*

It's an arbitration number...it's stupid but evidently the Devils are banking on the arbitrator splitting the number down the middle the way they usually do in these cases. I kinda hope the arbitrator decides for Bratt just because the low number was particularly stupid, but either way it isn't much of an indicator of what exactly the long-term offer is.
