Watched the Blue Jacket's feed of last night's game for kicks. They sound like us over the last five years.
What a dominant performance. I don't understand how anyone could not like most of what we have on this team. You replace Boqvist and Tatar and get Palat back and we are pretty well primed to grow into a a solid squad.
It jumped out at me that Marino coming over is at once the best and worst thing for Severson. Maybe Severson takes a hometown discount - because there is absolutely not one thing he does better than Marino except maybe a stretch pass.
Anyone who hates Bastian should rewatch that game. Same with Wood. They are going to be important pieces if/when we make the playoffs.
The PP is suddenly a frigging sight to behold.
Not the strongest game from Vanacek but gave us what we needed. If they switched nets we probably would've won 6-3 with the way Merzlikens let in those softies - but totally understandable by the ridiculous chances our team created.
Even with a minute left we were #relentless.
- Severson taking a discount as about as likely as Bratt taking a discount.
- Bastian has fast made me think highly of him as a Good NHL'er as opposed to the past where I thought he was just....there.
But what impresses me even more on Bastian is that he can handle the puck on the rush even if he's not as fleet a foot as the rest of his teammates.
- Jack and Bratt on the PP. 'nuff said.
- Gives up one goal.....just ONE goal...and it's "not the strongest game" for Vanacek? LOL! Come on, man.
- Also loved that the Devils kept their foot on the gas pedal and didn't let up. We all have complained about this in the past but finally it looks like we will see a Devils team that won't fall asleep, so to speak, late in the game even in one they are leading in.
