The board has been in good moods lately and I hope it stays even if we lose to Vancouver or even to all three teams. The team has proven it can dominate games and compete with the best, especially when the goaltending is on point. There's gonna be some set backs eventually and goalies (and skaters) will have bad nights. We might lose games we should win and in the same stretch face cup contending teams as well. But I think Ruff and the team has earned some patience and believe from us, that they can eventually turn it around and go to another win streak even if they lose some here and there.
Not even Whiny fans of the Av's could change our mood!:thumbu:

This reads like a plea for sanity. This is a message board - bah! get lost!! <jk>

I hope people will be gentle on our goalies when we have breakdowns, and gentle on our players when they don't finish or give the puck away... but. I know it'll take exactly one bad game for the sky to start falling.

It would've taken one period but we had two reallly reallly realllllly good games.

Asking people not to be negative? looks like this thread is going to gain a couple pages really fast.

Since we went on a "remember when" spree I just remembered that sometime last year guy posting on the trade board suggested Hischier was a cap dump and they would have to "pay his team in assets to take him". I get there are clueless people but that was just WOW.

I’m not psychic or anything but if we lose the next three games in a row I predict the good mood of the board would take a big hit. It would come back with more winning though.

You’ve… been here before right? Even on more successful team boards the fans lose their shit over losing streaks.

It would be nice if people didn’t get glum over the first loss at least.

Shame Palat is out. He’d be in for Boq and the lines would be this.

Palat Hughes Bratt
Tatar Hischier Zetterlund
Sharangovich Haula Mercer

Haula is taking draws for Hughes, I wouldn't mess with it. Puck possession off a faceoff is an X factor for Bratt and Hughes.

Put Palat with Hischier, two way dominance and they can shut everything down.

IF only we had a sniper to put beside Palat and Hischier, If only we drafted someone like that.

They're going to dominate whether or not Haula wins faceoffs. It's a marginal at best difference.

Immediate puck possession is not marginal.

Faceoffs are massively important and Jack sucks at them (he probably will get better, this is normal for young centres).

Listen I’ve been hurt too many times lol, I’m excited and I’m optimistic I just won’t get my hopes toooo high for right now. We go 3-0 on this road trip? I’ll start blocking off streets around the Rock for June.
2-1 and I'm happy and satisfied.

1-2 and I'm annoyed but still hopeful they turn it around and get another win streak going

0-3?

Watched the Blue Jacket's feed of last night's game for kicks. They sound like us over the last five years.

What a dominant performance. I don't understand how anyone could not like most of what we have on this team. You replace Boqvist and Tatar and get Palat back and we are pretty well primed to grow into a a solid squad.

It jumped out at me that Marino coming over is at once the best and worst thing for Severson. Maybe Severson takes a hometown discount - because there is absolutely not one thing he does better than Marino except maybe a stretch pass.

Anyone who hates Bastian should rewatch that game. Same with Wood. They are going to be important pieces if/when we make the playoffs.

The PP is suddenly a frigging sight to behold.

Not the strongest game from Vanacek but gave us what we needed. If they switched nets we probably would've won 6-3 with the way Merzlikens let in those softies - but totally understandable by the ridiculous chances our team created.

Even with a minute left we were #relentless.
- Severson taking a discount as about as likely as Bratt taking a discount.

- Bastian has fast made me think highly of him as a Good NHL'er as opposed to the past where I thought he was just....there.

But what impresses me even more on Bastian is that he can handle the puck on the rush even if he's not as fleet a foot as the rest of his teammates.

- Jack and Bratt on the PP. 'nuff said.

- Gives up one goal.....just ONE goal...and it's "not the strongest game" for Vanacek? LOL! Come on, man.

- Also loved that the Devils kept their foot on the gas pedal and didn't let up. We all have complained about this in the past but finally it looks like we will see a Devils team that won't fall asleep, so to speak, late in the game even in one they are leading in.

Zetterlund has 10 points in 15 games since coming up to the NHL.

Not ideal, but the guy seems fine as a placeholder for now.

Maybe Holtz get's an opportunity later in the season? Cold streaks and injuries are bound to happen.

Seemed like Nico and Z are starting to have some chemistry too. I would love to give Holtz a shot in the top6, but so far he and Nico haven't been a good match the few times they've played (last season). Holtz was good with Palat though and defensively it would be easier for him with Nico and Palat.

I agree with Haula - Hughes - Bratt, not just the faceoffs but he has the skating to hang with those two.

It will be a fun game to see how Marino, Siegs, Hischier, and perhaps Wood and Mcleod will be able to stifle the Mcdrai line.

I added Wood and Mcleod as are probably the only players who at least could stay close to Mcdavid as he skates.
I think McLeod's speed is a bit overrated.

He doesn't seem to be faster than any other NHL'er out there on the ice.

Wood, on the other hand, is.

I would staple him to McDavid every time he finds his 4th line on the ice with McDavid's.

The problem is with the other lines trying to contain the 2-headed hydra....

Vitek (as I assume Blackwood would be getting the first of the Home-and-Home with Calgary) will have to be extra sharp in that game.

Three games?? If they trail in the first period against Calgary we're moving to DEFCON 2.
