Correct me if I'm wrong but I remember Benson saying in an interview that he was just doing light stuff and being around at camp because he is still recovering.

I thought that was what they said about Ethan Bear, but could very well be the case with Benson. We'd all certainly prefer Benson is 100% healthy before going all out of course.

He was a FA signing out of the NCAA, not a draft pick of ours.

Ah thanks for the correction.

I agree with most of what you wrote, but I really liked Zharkov. He seemed like a high upside pick, but he just couldn't put it together.

Seemed exciting enough for a 4th round pick I suppose. The man went into a nosedive from the next moment on the ice after he was picked though.

Zharkov will always be one that gnaws at me as someone who had the talent to be in the NHL, but not the head or heart. Lots of guys like that unfortunately.

Not much hockey sense, but could put the puck in the net.

I don't know if you can question his heart.

He tried to come over to play in Bako, but tore his ACL(same one he had torn the season earlier). He missed the entire 15/16 season because of it, but has managed to work his way back to another KHL contract.

Fair comment. Perhaps I could've chosen my words better.

It just felt like he didn't give North America much of a chance after talking a good game after being drafted, one more OHL season post-draft and he went back to Russia. Who knows, maybe he just got homesick. Ultimately just another in a long line of failed Russian forwards over the years that the Oilers drafted.

Oh well, at least Slepyshev looks to be turning out OK.

Ah, the patented Digger12 jinx post.

It's like the kiss of death, only in neat and concise paragraph form. ;)
