McLellan said target date for Boyle's return is Wednesday in LA, but #SJSharks need to be sure he's good to go at that point.

Looks like Wednesday he's back.

Robinson said Boyle won't necessarily be rushed into lineup tmw, because #SJSharks are playing well. "It's a good luxury for us to have."

Robinson on Boyle, "We can bring him in when we think it's best for him. When team is going well, those are decisions that you can make."

I expect him to look like hell defensively getting re-acquainted with the ice his game one back. But it will all be worth it when his presence fixes the PP and we score 4 PP goals.

McLellan in LA (direct from Ottawa - personal matter), so could be Robinson is being more conservative in comments to media.

I also think this is the case. Despite what Robinson said, every report is still saying game time descision and not necessarily ruling it out. I can't see Dan Boyle being ok with sitting out any longer than is necessary if he feels that he is good to go and gets medical clearance. Quotes from Dan:

Boyle said Tuesday he has not had any headaches since he began his recovery, but added he did not know if he was going to play against the Kings. After practice, he planned to talk to team trainer Ray Tufts and the coaching staff to figure out the next step.

"What they have planned and what I have planned might be two different things," Boyle said.

Asked if he'd like to play against the Kings, Boyle said, "I want to play, period. I don't care who it is. With the exception of the year I slit my wrist, I've never kind of gone through this sitting out stuff. I don't enjoy it."

So we good with me putting them in the GDT (him and Havlat) since they're both game-time decisions? Closest they've been yet.

I'd put Boyle in.

You thinking of putting both Nieto and Havlat in? I think if Nieto can go... Havlat won't play. They seem to want him to get some significant contact practices in and Robinson implied that that can really only be done in home not road practices.

I get the feeling they'll keep Boyle out 1 more game. Dear god I hope we see him tomorrow though.

I agree, I think him not skating on a regular pairing at practice today was pretty telling.

As much as the team misses him (and they do, a lot) keeping him out until Saturday is probably best for him. I still can't believe he escaped that brutal hit without any kind of severe injury.

Aside from all of the obvious reasons to want him back, I also want to see Dan play tomorrow because I'm petty lol.

Lapierre will get to play in the Blues' game on Nov 1 and out of principle I don't want to see that scum able to play before Boyler gets back on the ice.

Who has the final say for a player returning after a head injury? Obviously not the player alone, and I can't believe it would be left to the training staff.

Team doctor and/or specialist hopefully. Does the league have any input?

The final say is always the coaches. They're the people that put players on the ice. Everything before that is part of the process.

That time Jumbo was injured falling into the boards on that check by Edler, he was held out by the coaches for a few games, even though Jumbo said he was ready to go the next game.

Boyle to slot in on JT's line in place of Burns. Just to have a warm-up game before going back to defense. :sarcasm:

there's the Shark's future tweener. start him with Patty and Cooch, start him in Burn's slot. Start him with Hertl and Pavs. I bet Boyle could move to forward as he gets older and wind up being hella useful as a cresent wrench type forward that could kill penalties and play power play and fill in on whatever line. when he gets old, don't just take away the hard minutes as a dman. let him run loose as a forward as he ends his career...

I'm gonna stand by this for a season or so as the D fills out for the Sharks but they could find a great way to keep him around. Rather see the Sharks utilize him than dump him.

oh, for being on topic, Glad he seems to be on the up and up!!
