Daly has already let NHLPA that NHL are willing to let the union 'win' on the contracting rules. Fehr has a pre-negotiation meeting where he says the players have no reason to go back on the concessions they got last time, they go into negotiations and NHLPA wins when it comes to contracting rights and he can tell everyone afterwards how important it was for the players.

Meanwhile NHL get's the 50-50 split it was all about from the start.
