what's the difference between associate and assistant coach, or is it the same thing?

When Stevens was "promoted" in LA, he went from Assistant to associate. The idea being an associate is on closer to even grounds than an assistant.

It's like the difference between "VP of Sales" and "Executive VP of Sales"

One sounds more important than the other. No other real difference, IMO.

Probably comes with a salary bump though, and in some cases succession planning (hopefully not in this case)

This just proves shameless self promotion on Twitter really does work.

Crawford has pedigree though. Could make Boucher feel less secure about his position, unless it's his choice obviously.

I'm not sure Crawford would actually make anyone fell less secure, the guy wasn't really seen as a hot commodity or anything. To me, his rep was somebody who's been exiled from the NHL moreso than someone that could challenge you for your job. Just my feeling, I suppose.

So who are the undrafted or FA Swiss stars they will potentially want?

Should be at least one!

worth noting that
Martin Raymond, who coached with Boucher in the AHL and followed him to the NHL is not working at the moment (they also appeared to have played together at McGill)

Daniel Lacroix is another that coached with Boucher in the AHL and followed him to the NHL, but he is currently with the Habs.

Personally I'd prefer Crawford as the head guy and Boucher as an assistant, but I guess if you have both it doesn't matter much.

I like this a lot.

Obviously the cavaet being they need to work together, but if this was part of Boucher's presentation then there must be a relationship there.

I'm impressed.

I think having a assistant coach with significant NHL experience like Crawford is a good thing.

Zurich (Crawford's old team) have a really technically good young goalie in Niklas Schlegel, but he's like 140lbs soaking wet.

Kid has skils, though. Bit of a late bloomer, but even at 21 years old you can tell he tracks the puck well, has some solid fundamentals, and has got some chops.
