Nothing wrong with reporting it. Just make sure and put all the facts in the article. Leaving important things out, as this one does(such as saying there have been other cases in the world every year), is misleading and really does promote fear mongering. But hey, anything to sell the news, right?

You mean the CBC article? Right in the middle of it there's a link with with the following headline:

Plague in 2019? Why there's no reason to panic about China's recent cases

https://www.cbc.ca/news/health/plague-china-second-opinion-1.5370711

"There are about 12 countries on the planet that have plague. And sporadic cases of plague, believe it or not, are expected in many of these countries," said Dr. Isaac Bogoch, an infectious disease specialist with Toronto General Hospital.

It goes on to detail the 3 types of plague that occur around the world at different times. Where's the fear mongering?

3700 is not an insignificant number. I wonder why anyone ever thought that a ‘home test’ was going to yield accurate results.

Second, I wonder why anyone is using any test produced in PRC. Aside from the obviously dubious nature of PRC made anything, why is this country being allowed to profit from a pandemic they floated on the world? I was browsing the ‘mask aisle’ at a local drug store the other day and 80% of the masks were made in PRC. wtf?

This is the critter that is responsible for the transmission of the Bubonic Plague in China.

Disgusting that people in China eat that animal.

To be fair there are lot of poor people there who are borderline starving. They've had a virus wipe out a lot of their pig livestock over the last 2 years causing major supply shortages over there. When people get hungry enough they'll try to cook just about anything.

Even animals that are known to transmit diseases.

American new cases last few days are back to what they were around April. Astounding good news in the US. Seeing about half as many new cases as they were getting just a month ago. Unmistakably the curve going way down again.

World wide new cases are decreasing as well relative to what they were a month ago. This has gone around the world now and subsiding in a lot of areas that is was burning through just recently. The pattern quite clear that this hits areas for around 4mths and then starts to subside. Continent like Europe got over this quicker than NA because it hit there in numbers much earlier.

Next will be if a 2nd wave hits places. If thats going to happen we should see it in Asia in next couple months. I say Asia because that was first hit.

Not sure there will ever be a vaccine... few cases of people getting sick with it multiple times now. Not good news.

This is very likely happening because the immune response to being infected from the community was so small in large amounts of people. Some theories that the infection doesn't even get beyond the mucus membranes in very healthy people, the body kills it off so quickly. Without the body really needing to fight, the residual immunity is short lived.

But, good news is that with an injected vaccine you can force the body to mount a much larger response. They're just gonna need to figure out how to ensure that higher response can be induced in the majority of people that get vaccinated. From what I've read, a number of vaccine trials are already showing it's possible to do this with healthy people, but obviously larger trials and more time is needed to really find the right mix.

It's not just the vaccine. It's the potential side effects that could occur a couple years from now. And will it be good for everyone? Or just young people? or just old people? or those that are immune compromised? or those that are asymptomatic?

Almost a month of mandatory mask now, how’s our numbers doing? Is it helping?

How do August numbers look compared to July?

August numbers are way worse than July. It really took off for a while with between 50-100 often in Edmonton per day. It's because people are gathering and partying way more. Noticed in early mid July people gathering way more and deep into July and August it's gotten to the point a lot of people aren't caring anymore about keeping their cohorts small and not being cautious when gathering. If there was no mandatory masks, i suspect the numbers to be even worse.
